Little peoples' clothes...

These are pretty much hot off the needles - they both got sewn up yesterday...

Firstly, a little cardigan for great-niece A (aged 5 months)

The colour doesn't look right in the photo - it's actually bright, bright pink.

Secondly, a hoody for grandson C (aged 2)

This is the fourth one of these I've done...

Next I think another dishcloth is in order and then some more socks.  Very Happy
Libby

Love them especially the cardi, what size does the pattern go to?
Kathy

They're nice, I really like the cardi pattern.  Smile
Lizzie

Thanks folks!  I like making clothes for smalls - they's so quick!

The cardi pattern goes up to age 5-6, as does the jumper I think...
Libby

could I please have a copy of the pattern for the cardi?
Lizzie

Of course you can - I'll try and remember to bring it back to work at lunchtime to take a copy.
Jacky

What lovely knitting, I am sure both little people with look great   Very Happy

Sorry to be cheeky Lizzie but is there any chance of a copy of the hoody pattern, my friend is due a grandson as we type (he's been on the way for over 39 hours so far...... me thinks maybe the hospital visit was a bit previous)
Lizzie

Crumbs - sorry TGM...I missed this yesterday - surely he must have arrived by now???

PM me your address and I'll sort out the pattern for you asap.
Libby

I have some rather beautiful chunky wool, could I use it to knit this if I changed needle size, do you think?
Lizzie

I don't see why not Libby - I suppose you'd just knit a size smaller than you wanted would you?  I've never been brave enough to knit anything with anything other than what it says on the pattern!
Libby

mmmmmmmmmmm Jacky might know???
Jacky

Knitting chunky yarn on smaller needles will make a thicker/stiffer fabric, I wouldn't recommend doing this especially with little people's clothes, sorry.  Sad

However Lizzie if you can tell me what the tension of the suggested yarn, or just the yarn name and I can then look up the tension and the same for you Libby, it might be easy to adjust the amount of stitches cast on or which size to knit in the first place, like Lizzie suggested just doing a smaller size might work, just making sure you put the length in the front/back and sleeves for the required size.

Or you might find something here that you can knit, that is a similar design but the correct tension for the yarn you have.
Libby

I'll bring the pattern with me if, we meet on Friday!!
Lizzie

I've just realised that I knitted it in double knitting and I think the pattern calls for 4 ply.  It was a merino mix wool so it was lovely and soft, but now you mention it, it was a tiny bit 'stiffer'  than I expected Embarassed
