Mangoes are down to 39p each in Lidls' at the moment, so I took advantage and bought 8 this week. We ate a couple and I turned the rest into chutney yesterday, ending up with about 6 lbs of it. I made a batch last year and it is SOOOO much better than anything bought, and when added to curry as it's cooking, makes it sublime. It is simple to make, and only needs 2lb mangoes (= 2 1/2 jars roughly). That's 2 good sized mangoes, so good value for money. I'll look out the recipe if anyone wants it.

we use a lot of fruit chutneys with our SA curry so would definitely be interested in the recipe.

Oh, great, I'm off to Lidls today for some glossy photo paper. I bought one pack and it made a pretty good job so I'm off to buy the rest.

I went into town on Thursday to get their photo paper and other bits on special whilst OH got some apples. Wish I had gone around that section too now

I never really think of mangoes for chutney when I see the mangoes - as I only started making it a little while ago.

Not cost effect to make a 16 mile return journey for some sadly - but I will definitely keep my 'eye' out for some in the future. As I have just discovered that I like chutney - having been making some Rolling Eyes
