Mission Lloyd

Okay Sheddites.
A certain gentleman is confined to the sofa for a whole week.
It is imperative that he does not succumb to daytime tv.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to ensure that he is challenged, entertained and kept busy all week.
Please post suggestions, ideas and stuff for him to read here.
This message will self destruct in ten seconds.

No 1 suggestion. Sit on sofa, peel and chop pounds and pounds of veg for the freezer.

No 2. Sit on sofa, prepare pounds and pounds of plums and onions for CP to turn into chutney.

No daytime tv - I've disconnected the aerial and hidden the remote Wink
Haize

Can CP do the messy bits of making bread dough, then Lloyd do all the bits you can do from a sofa, and make interesting shaped bread rolls out of it?

Can Lloyd do plaits? Very Happy
lottie

Write all the Christmas cards. No cards? Even better, make and write all the cards Laughing Laughing
Cabbagepatch

Sit and do the ironing......

Knit socks!

Surely next years seed catalogues are about due? Plan the veggie garden?

Speaking as one who feels a little kinship with lloyd in his current predicament, I was thinking of things which would be a little more... shall we say, fun!
Ironing is bl**dy difficult on one leg, and doing it sitting down is pretty sore on the back.
I was thinking more along the lines of..

Teaching him to knit... or to knot and mend chicken fencing, or make snares for rabbits.... and post how to photos for the rest of us.

Getting him to start a blog for himself and cabbage with lots of photos of chickens, chutney, plums, landrovers and lavender and salt scrub etc etc

What do you think so far lloyd? Any of this grab you?

n
Cabbagepatch

n, I'm thinking more along your lines now.
I have the perfect solution.....
he can be the first of us to trial the lacemaking instructions...

And, how is your leg by the way? Hope you are well on the mend now.
Guest

Each of us sends Lloyd a book to read........preferably one which we want to read ourselves but haven't got round to it!
Lloyd reads it and prepares a resume for us..........with an action plan if it is a gardening/non-fiction title! Wink
Lizzie

Lloyd, I think you're going to have to delay your recovery - it looks like you're going to be busy until Christmas at this rate Very Happy

yes! that's what I was going to suggest. Lloyd I have three large laundry baskets waiting for ironing, I'll just ring dhl and ask them to collect them today, what's your address again? Laughing

nanny-now and forever

ok so it might just be a bit female to do lace making

i suggest making a fishing net

men do that don't they

darn sox?

does anybody do that any more?

the last person i ever saw darn a sock was my grandmother maybe 40 years ago

a question to ponder............

why are there always an odd number of sox in the washer when you empty it?
Leonie2

because there's a little monster that lives inside the washing machine and he likes to eat socks, especially children's socks Very Happy
nanny-now and forever

oh right

and there's me thinking it was a breeding thing...............

sock monster..................

sounds good to me

I could do a demo on sock darning. Have you people not heard of mean and make do Shocked I put my toe through a pair today and they will be darned
n

So we can all send them to you.
This is a business opportunity, and you can downsize and work from home. Laughing

i agree

i can't think of anything more boring apart from maybe cleaning the oven
mrutty

Send them here (yes seriously), clean socks darned for 10p a pair + P&P.

I normally do them when Becki is at work.

I also fix tents, sew on buttons, make peg bags.

I think Ali and Becki are going to try and get me back into knitting. When I was growing up we had jobs that had to be done and everyone had to help. Both my gran's can use lathes, that's the sort of madness I grew up with.
Haize

Nothing wrong with women using lathes! I love lathes...

And engraving machines. They're fun too.

Should I ever be in your vicinity, mrutty, I will take advantage of your sock-darning services. Definately worth the 10p, but probably not the postage! My least thinned-through-use socks are the virtually new ones the washing machine chewed gently, leaving a couple of neat rents Sad

It's always my socks that get destroyed too, not my OH, who has a lifetime supply already!
mrutty

Yes but can you make bullets and shells with your eyes closed?? Confused

My Grans are great but they truely are odd. Gran R is really helpful with sweet and jam making with sure great quotes as 'It'll look right when it's the right temp'
mrutty

On a different tack, what's rong with his leg? Did he drop a heavy packet of seeds on it? Typical Podgo dodge if you ask me.
Haize

Fair point, can't say I've made bullets...

I like that about the jam though. All I need now is to know what "looking right" actually looks like!
Libby

IRONING Shocked ugh I hate ironing and do as little as possible. The art to non ironing is to fold everything as soon as washing machine has finished, until you can get it on the line, then, fold again to bring in, hang up as soon as possible and hey presto not alot of ironing Very Happy

Jobs to do ermmmm?????? My dad knitted and darned his socks! Plan what veg you would like to grow next year? String up onions!

I'm not very good at this Crying or Very sad

ironing?

what's that then

je ne comprends pas the mot "iro-ning"

n........................Lloyd has started a blog today.

Its called New Dawn after a climbing rose I bought in the spring. Very apt I thought.

I've just logged on there and as yet can't work out how to do anything.
This evening may be very trying. Confused Laughing
Libby

Well if I can do it, Lloyd can do it Laughing

Embarassed Can't even get my blog to come under my name here!....Updated my profile.......I surrender. Laughing
Becki

Try putting the URL tags at the end? That probably isn't it at all but I thought it sounded good Laughing

Here it is. Smile

nothing to see there yet, gave up and retired to my bedchamber last night!
Cabbagepatch

Wow!....And there it is. Very Happy ...Lots of work to be done on it, Broadband is being installed this afternoon so I'll start loading it up tonight. Surprisingly easy it is too! Cool
Libby

I had a look at the Lloyd and Linda blog well done. Have you got your chucks on bark chippings?

Libby
Cabbagepatch

yes they are on bark libby, this weekend i plan to move them around the back of the house and have a go at freeranging them. am quite nervous in case i manage to lose them.

and theres nothing to see on the blog yet, was too tired last night to work on it.
Libby

Just wondered because we started ours on bark but now have them on 'aubiose' we found it cheaper £8 for a huge bag, went alot further and when you rake it out it either goes on the compost or straight on the flower bed. We got ours from 'Countrywide' but any horsey type place should do!

you shouldn't do cp as long as there are no holes in the hedges or fences, they can't really go anywhere

if you are concerned that they might fly off, you could get lloyd to clip their wings for you.............then they can't fly anywhere.....
Cabbagepatch

clipped their wings on arrival. am going to go for it on saturday. am just a natural worrier Confused
