monday 21st september

good morning all,
well, I was out bright and early today ! sophie  started her new job, and was supposed to be there at 7.45, then discovered that the first bus was at 7,30, which was too late, so I had to catch another bus with her,  in a different direction, then she had to walk about 20 mins, as she didn`t know where the nursery was from where the bus stopped !
 got home at 8.15.
I have decided to ride my bike to work from now on, as I can go most of the way on the cycle path, and then through a park in twn, which comes out really near to where I work.sio I dont have to ride on any roads much at all.
I`m working from 1 till 5 today, and have only got 25 hrs work this week. and all afternoons  Sad
have a good day everyone
Libby

People are getting very stressed!

On top of that, Penny-the-bonkers-lurcher isn't very well at all.  She has a very high temperature and is off her food.  Tomorrow, she is going back to the vets for an endoscopy to see what's what.  She's been on antibiotics since Friday and I *think* she's a bit brighter so hopefully, it's nothing too horrid.

Aaarggh - too many things buzzing around my head!

Have a great day everyone  Very Happy

Kathy

I started another daily thread so will just delete that!

Nearly finished knitting Ozzie's coat so hopefully will get that done. The kitchen needs a scrub down and my bedroom is looking a bit dusty! What an exciting life eh?!  Laughing

Sorry to hear about Penny Lizzie, fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

I would have stayed in as well Libby, will your car get fixed on the insurance?

Have a good day everyone.    Smile
Aqui

Lizzie - sorry about Penny. Hope she's feeling better soon.

J's not at all well either. He woke up with a slight temperature yesterday, but by lunchtime it had shot up and he was shivering and floppy. not like him at all. rushed him to hospital (fortunately only 2 miles away). to cut a very long and boring story short, he's got a kidney infection, which is very unusal in males. got anti-biotics. they've sent off his sample for more tests and he's got to go for a blood test on thurs.

None of us slept well last night. J kept talking in his sleep (surprisingly loudly and coherently!) "want to watch jamie and the magic torch", "train out window", and at one point he recited "round and round the garden" with the actions!

today his temperature is almost normal and he does seem brighter. Thank goodness t is home!

Very Happy getting the lidl one as well as the all singing all danceing (apparently) one I did it years ago but on wood only diffrent designs, pictures etc, now moveing on to leather and bone work for Sheaths and other bits and bob's for when Richie finishes some knifes Very Happy

Totally recommend the Lidl one advertised to start off with its basically the same as the one I started with at Art Collage Smile and for a tenner it's worth ago even if it ends up as a solidering iron or stashed in a cupboard, loads of fail safe print off's on the net to have a practice with on bits and bobs really simple if you have a pre made stencil BUT watch your fingers  Laughing I had mine burnt a few times way back not anymore though thankfully  Wink
TheGirlsMum

Done my RDA stint.

Hubby is away for the week, had to get the girls up early to take him in to the base.....did he get screamed at for going away or told he couldn't go? Did they want to go with him? Not one bit just oh.....bye Dad, so why did I get all the grief for one night?

Well its sailing tonight only 3 more then it gets slightly calmer in this household....no it doesn't they then start cross country and eldest has been picked for the south west sailing junior race team to train over the winter. I can see us having to buy dry suits now to keep her warm.

Hope all goes better today Libby and is ok Lizzie and Aqui

Was thinking of getting one myself....I wonder if they are good for making tattoos????? Shocked  Cool
nanny-now and forever

lizzie, hope penny is ok and god what stress you must be under....

all calmed down here today, a volunteer and the person standing in for the groom (who is on holiday) and her husband and mr nanny and myself...it was lovely...

i had pooter stuff to do while they did all the  normal stuff and then mr nanny trimmed donkey hooves (always good for a laugh) before ebony came in for us to ride...such a lovely girl, i really enjoy riding her as did everyone .....

after everyone had gone, the dogs walked and tomatoes picked i noticed what i though was a dead flower head on the concrete by the back porch...it looked odd so i bent down and picked it up and found it to be a bat....a long eared one...it was still alive so being terribly brave i took it in to mr nanny who checked it out as much as he could, it had wing damage - i wonder if it had flown into the back porch window...

anyway

he hung it on his shirt upside down (like bats do) and rang the bat people who announced that the nearest person was swansea (40 miles away) and the best thing we could do was take it to our local vet (only 10 miles away) who would do what they could and contact the bat people again if necessary

so i don't know if it will survive or not but at least we did the right thing...

i think we should have a reserved parking space at our vets, we spend enough time there Rolling Eyes
lloyd

About thirty tears ago, (literally), I found a Pipistrelle (long eared bat) in our garden pond. Nothing physically wrong with it, just knackered and or spaced out. That was early Autumn too.
mogs

lloyd

which one was it, pipistrelle or long eared ?

a pip' is the smallest UK bat, and can fit into a match box.....long eared is somewhat larger.....

whichever it was, was it ok?
