my small gardenI moved up from Kent about 9 months ago now. I had a lovely garden that was a nice size. I brought some of the plants with me that i cherished in Kent Including a Lilac and a miniature Magnolia that i was given when my husband died. These are both blooming at the moment, and have taken to their new surroundings well. i am surprised as the ground is clay, which is completely different to Kent. The garden is very small, but i am planting lots of things and hopefully there will be sosmething for all wildlife, although i have my doubts that there will be any wildlife as it is so built up around here. Hopefully i will be having a pond and hope for some frogs etc.

It's amazing what you can do in a small space, using vertical growing. Have you got any photos, I'd love to see one of your magnolia.

I spent some time in my little garden today. I lifted some plants up that I hope to train up a trellis, and I found my Lily of the Valley that I wondered what I had done with. I bought a cheap bird bath from Wilkinsons and put bird seed in, and I find that the collared does have taken it over, and have been flying bak and forth all day. The Starlings have dared come into the garden when we were out there, and it seems that nothing phases them, and they are so tame at times. Mowed the lawn and cut the edges, and that's about as active as I can get in one day without hurting my knee, which has gone very stiff today. As I had visiters I didn't do my excercises.

This is the garden of my daughters new home,as you can see the people before were not gardeners  been there today but working in the front garden,had to cut back an old magnolia tree I hope it will grow again buy it was so out of shape,bet you are pleased janowl you havn't got this garden to tackle I am having to be careful that there arn't any birds nesting.

Janowl, you must keep up with those exercises!
I'm sure between you, you'll have that garden licked into shape in no time Jojo. It'll be interesting to see the before and after pics.

Well at the moment, as it is only a tiny garden, I managed to get it sorted before I had the knee op., and everything is coming along nicely. The thing is I ummed and rrrred where to put the pond and decided that it should go nearer the bottom end of the garden as it is horrible soil there and all clay. But it was too late to get it sorted before the winter, as when I had my son build a deck I was going to originally have it by the side of that, as I did with my deck in Kent. It's my fault I don't have it really as I couldn't make my mind up.
