New chooks!

Picked up new chickens on sunday from all year round poultry near edinburgh. With all the rain we've had up here the farm was incredibly muddy....but not a lot had been done to keep the chickens very clean Sad The guy was really nice and it was obvious that he loved his fowl but I think he's taken on too much to give them the environment that they need. Also, he had quite a few birds that were unwell......but he does'nt like to put them out of their misery Sad....really strange Confused  could'nt quite get my head around it Sad
Anyway here's Freddie ...straight out of the bath!!!! He's a gold brahma, about 2 years old. Was very fiesty when we first saw him but now won't leave Blossom's (she's a blue partridge brahma) side!! She lost her virginity yesterday! Sad

The bath was in a right state when when we had finised bathing him!!!! A thick river of silt!!!!

He's been going through a big moult....but he's gonna be gorgeous when all his feathers come through again!!

This is Button....a buff orpington and Munty's pride and joy!!!! She decided she liked the babies house better than being outside!!!

This is Dave the dorking with his 2 girls Minnie and Molly Smile They are really fiesty birds.....keeping them in a smaller run at the moment, until we manage to get the other houses up and running. If we let them out with Freddie in the garden there would be bl**dy carnage!!!!!

This bundle of fluff are Bunty, Toffee and Dickens.... 6week old salmon faverolles that we hatched....they are such sweeties....espescially Bunty (me fave!!!!)

Blimey, Freddie looks worse than my half eaten hen!  Laughing

They all look lovely, I'll see them in the flesh tomorrow.  Smile

I love Buff Orpingtons too. Lottie has a bantam one, so sweet. I really wish we had more space so I could keep a few chooks, my garden was just not big enough!!! Sad

Hmm.... we have a bit of extra room in the hen garden.... I like small hens,  I'll have to read the hen book.
And your new hens are lovely aggie, mum told all about them  Wink
