New from oldE and I have been gathering slivers of soap and today had enough to recycle. Melted the pieces down in a double boiler, add a few oats then spooned into muffin tins. They cooled quickly and have made a soft but scrubby soap.Nice, safe, easy thing for a 5 year old whilst teaching about recycling. She gave them to her Aunties and Mum this evening when they got in from work.

It's the equivalent of putting a heat proof dish over a saucepan with boiling water, like you do to melt chocolate for chocolate crispies!

Similar to a bain marie I suppose. We bought one at a car boot sale for 5p and it gets used all the time.
