Nits!! :(

Poor Jazz....she's now going through her umpteenth infestation of nits:(
Her poor mum has tried everything over the counter...including tee-tree oil products and still they come back. Has anyone and tried and tested means of getting rid of these little blighters? Crying or Very sad
Kathy

Comb with a nit comb every week after washing hair. I found that worked well with my lot. Smile

I'm checking J's hair daily, they've had an outbreak in her class.

My daughter in law used to do all the above - but she also sprayed her daughters hair with hairspray every day - and that deterred them

washing hair with a tea tree oil shampoo is meant to be a deterrant, not sure if it works.

Works here, but you must use shampoo and conditoner. When there is a known outbreak we add a tea tree oil hair spray. We use wet combing to check for them but nothing since moving to tea tree oil.

Strangely, my two never once had nits, all the other childhood ailments but never nits. No idea why, just lucky it would seem. Have consulted some of my books and come up with this, but can't say whether it worksbecause never tried it.

1fl oz almond or olive oil. Add 25 drops lavender, 25 drops rosemary, 12 drops eucalyptus, 12 drops geranium. Warm gently and comb through hair thoroughly. Wrap the hair in plastic eg carrier bag or shower cap and leave for at least one hour. (Whilst fretful child throws a paddy Laughing ). Remove and comb hair with a nit comb before washing.

Treat every hairbrush, hair slides etc, all towels, pillowcases, hats etc by a good hot wash.

Repeat weekly until the all clear is sounded.

I would recommend a skin patch test before sloshing it on, just in case of adverse reaction.

Good luck.

We get them fairly frequently, as there are 2 or 3 families at school that do not check Twisted Evil

This is the best comb on the market, and believe me with 3 children we have tried most.

We do a wash with tea tree shampoo, then rub in tea tree conditioner and leave in, then comb. This can take an hour if necessary. Keep going, wiping th ecomb each time on a tissue. Every now and then dip the comb in a bowl of boiling water. Only stop when no more live nits come out.

At first do it 2 or 3 times a day, as every time you comb you break eggs too, which need to be damaged.

I have thick curly hair, and mine takes ages to do.

I'll pass on all your kind advice.....thanks:)

I use the tea tree cream like liceblaster? I think that is what it is called. A hairdresser told me, and I didn't like hearing it the way it was put to me, to use it on the same day for three weeks. This works.

Also use something like Nads egg remover as well, and a very fine toothed comb, metal with magnification.
