Not enjoying this

Sad  Sad  Sad
How sad am I, the first Christmas where I won't be slaving over a hot stove and I am dreading it!!!! As the whole family are together this year and no one has enough room so we are eating out!
I love buying all the magazines and trying out new ideas and recipies. I am particular about my christmas dinner and just know it won't be anything like the real thing.
Plus I am dreading the rows!!! As my neices fight like cat and dog! Mind you I have been reliably informed that they are quite scared of me, I never stood any nonsense, so I think a few threats will be in order.

Heres to a happy christmas........................... not  Sad

Aaw Libby, I can imagine how you must be feeling  Sad   I must admit I have never liked the idea of eating out on Christmas Day but if its needs must, then you will just have to try and be very positive about it...think of the washing up you won't have to do all afternoon!!!

Could you do something extra special on Boxing Day - maybe invite as many people as you can squeeze in for lunch?  Or how about Christmas Eve supper.....think candles, carols, anticipation and log fires.  Oh yes, you can all fight over who's to put the mince pie and carrot by the fire for Santa and Rudolph!!!

I'd go with CP's suggestion and do something special on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day, maybe just for the four of you.

We usually spend Christmas Day just the two of us, or with my parents coming over, but we always have OH's children and all the grandbabies over on Boxing Day - a very tight squeeze but lots of fun  Laughing

Know exactly how you feel!  Don't think I could do dinner out on Christmas Day!  We have always looked upon it as OUR family day (just the four of us) the extended families got Boxing Day!!

When my folks were alive we would go to them for New Year's as it was Mum's birthday on the 30th ... worked out quite well ... that's if one has to go anywhere !!

Now it's just us!  Confused
Kathy

The one year we went out(Parents idea) I still cooked Christmas dinner. We ate out at 12, which wasn't a patch on home cooked so we had a proper dinner at home later on around 6! Smile
nanny-now and forever

we give the staff the day off and do all the work on christmas and boxing day so nothing special here really though i try to do a nice dinner of roast beest.....we never want the pud at the end

i don't want to think about it yet ....far too early
Libby

We are away from Xmas Eve to the day after boxing day, K is driving over with her boyfriend then going back with him on boxing day as its his mums 50th (he he she's older than me  Twisted Evil ) then she is getting the train back home on the 30th, so I think I will cook us a specail christmas/new years dinner!
I know we won't have washing up but I get the feeling that as Kathy said we will have to have something ready for the evening as this lot are BIG eaters!!!
