Not far off being done!!!

I got J a Peter Pan dressing up outfit in Woolies today for a bargain price of £15. I was really chuffed. hey were doing 3 for 2 but I couldn't think of anyone else to give one to. Hows everyone else doing? I am nearly finished now, got some bits and bobs to get for teachers etc, but nearly there!
lottie

I am still making things - so a way to go yet! But it is good and very satisfying.
Haize

Agh! Maybe I can do some internet shopping: This week might be a good idea (I really have to get some physical rest...). I had plans involving jams, biscuits, candles, and so on, but there is always next year. I've no idea what to buy everyone though Confused

Well i have made stuffings for the Christmas bird and put into freezer,

My goodness, hardly even started here yet but I think Greenlady and I are making cake this evening and E and I have been making a few cards for her school shop (to raise funds). Laughing

That has never occurred to me to do that! What a jolly good idea.

Have you posted any recipes on any forums for those SL or are they from a book.

Pheasant, duck, patridge and a 'capon' chicken are on my list for Christmad depending on who decides to turn up - my family end up telling me a day or so before, so frozen ready to 'go' ideas are really good.

Shocked Nearly done? Shocked

I like the idea of food we can prepare in advance and freeze, this year we may be cooking for six or sixteen, don't know yet because of family/friends' circumstances.

Either is fine, but a bit of forward planning would take away the last minute panic.

Any ideas anyone?

I could not agree more - best get my 'sensible' head on soon and 'plan', but I am a bit of a 'take it as it comes' person and rustle things up at the 11th hour - so some planning will make a nice change
alison

We do most of the trimmings and put into the freezer, like the chippolatas wrapped in bacon, the bread sauce, and the stuffing.
Cabbagepatch

Do you cook the sausage/bacon first and then freeze?
alison

Yes, lightly cooked, and not too brown, but still cooked.

I'm not nearly as organised as I'd like to be, but I'm slowly getting there. Some pressies are bought, some are half way to being made, some a made and I've made most of the cards.

Getting there.... Smile
redwillowrose

I`m not ready yet, I`ve bought some cards, and will also make some.
I`ve bought most of the stocking fillers, but main pressies have to wait till my husband gets paid on the 8th.
I haven`t a clue what to get my parents , my mum is 78 and my dad is 81, does anyone have any ideas ?
I work in town, so once I have the money, I can shop in my lunch breaks. now, where did my husband put the wrapping paper !!!!

I love my family to pieces but it will just be the four of us this year Confused and there is usually 14 so it will be very strange!!!!!

On the plus side, as it is the four of us I have spent one hell of alot of money Shocked on the meat, proper, cared for, organically grown/fed etc turkey, ham and pork!!!! It had better be worth it!!!!

Lyn can you not make some mincemeat, or chutney or something like that for your mum and dad????
redwillowrose

Thats a good idea, I`m going to look out some recipes today ! thanks !

PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!

It's four weeks today. I have bought, so far, everything for T (he sent me a list - I just can't think anymore!) Still have to buy for mum (no ideas), dad (some ideas, which I may go with), sis (no ideas), gran (no ideas). And I really don't have much money this year. All I can think of is to give everyone soap and vouchers for baby cuddles (but the latter seems really stupid as they'll get those anyway!)

Food etc should be simple as there's only the two and a half of us to feed.

And still got to arrange when to see everyone, while leaving enough time in between to rest.

oh heck!
Becki

2 more pressies to get, and because I went into panic mode when I had a bazaar, I probably have enough cards made too. Yippeeeeee! Laughing
Cabbagepatch

I'm getting there, I've been having fun putting together lots of sewing bits and pieces for no. 1 daughter and Lloyd found a really nice sewing box on ebay last night. She keeps coming home to use mine!! Still need to make some pot pourri sachets, bath bags and hand cream. And I haven't made a single card yet Shocked

I have a fantastic idea for Lloyd as well Cool
TheGirlsMum

Got most of the girls presents bought and wrapped yesterday while they were away, smug or what?
Kathy

Greenlady made the cake yesterday, it looks and smells superlative. Very Happy

Have looked in my stash of knitted/weaving finished stuff and have presents for nearly everyone I make for. Very Happy
Thinking of getting a farmyard for E, reckon she'd like that. Laughing
Leonie2

a real farmyard kathy?
Kathy

Laughing Laughing She'd love one of those too no doubt!
Anyone seen any nice ones around, not cheap rubbish?
muntjac

have seperated the turkeys i wanna do and the geese are settled in the pen next to the (shhhhhhhhh killing ) shed . looking at £25 this year for a turkey prices are down ,my geese are going to make about £17 to many stores selling frozen ones at £12 lidls doing oven ready ducks at daft prices as well .they sure wont taste as good as mine .
muntjac

i could do with a stocking filler ... if only to help with the washing up Laughing Wink
DaveUSA

I am, bt far, the worst shopper. If I do find a good present and buy it early I end up keeping it for myself! It'll be hit the shops on December 24th for me (Ok, maybe the 23rd!).

I bought J a wooden one from ELC a year or so ago, she loves it. I did see some gorgeous handmade ones, seriously nice ones that you'd keep for generations, but my budget won't stretch that far, they were very expensive. Ikea do wooden farm sets last time we were there, and last year John Lewis had quite a nice set, not sure if they still have them this year.

T - done. Dad now done. (hopefully - ordered anyway).

Mum said "that's nice" to something when we were wool shopping last week, so that's what she's getting - when I go back.

Just sis and gran left. And I have absolutely no ideas for either. (other than homemade soap and sweets!)
Kathy

Thanks Leonie, we've an ELC nearby so I'll send one of the girls, as you know, shoppings not my thing, especially at this time of year!

My mum had a pattern for a knitted farmyard, it was excellent! We only made several animals from it though, but they did give patterns for various fields, a pond area, and one or two buildings too.

I'll worry about Christmas once I've survived this week, and my dad's birthday is over. Mind you, it would be sensible for me to sort out everything for my sister and co. imminently, as I'm seeing them at the weekend Rolling Eyes

That's the one J has. Remember that set doesn't come with the animals, it's just the buildings. But each birthday and christmas J gets some more animals so it's quite fun. We did end up glueing the buildings together because she got frustrated with having to build the farm each time she wanted to play and because she didn't push the bits in properly they'd fall apart.
TheGirlsMum

My girls have hours of fun with that farm set
My youngest is deffinitely going to be a lady farmer, she is quite a tractor buff
Becki

I have done all my christmas shopping apart from something for E.

Then Grandparents say to me 'Oh I don't know what to get, here's some money, go and get them something'

Now i have to shop for them aswell!

I've still only done T and my dad. Got ideas for everyone apart from my sis. Trouble is - I have to buy and organise the others. I meant to do some over the past two days, but was too tired and then the weather put me off. So I've only next wednesday off. Maybe I'll need to take a day off work

I keep thinking it's ages away. Then suddenly panicking when I realise it's just over two weeks.
redwillowrose

I got Sophi and Thoms`s main presents yesterday, at last ! I got Thomas the new Nintendo Wii, I preordered it, so didn`t have to queue for 2 days LOL like some people did. Sophie is having a psp, which looks quite good, its an mp3 player, plays games, also you can download films from the internet onto it, and also put photos on it.
I`ve wrapped all the stocking fillers, just have to get something more for my parents, and a music book for my grandaughter, whos getting a keyboard for Christmas.
