On The Cheap Pond Filteration System

Sorry wasnt sure where to post this but being very frugal...lol.. though I'd post it here  Laughing

Was my birthday the otherday   Shocked my Richie baught me a freestanding fish pond  Very Happy and 6 Ghost Koi Carp  Laughing  we have a fountain but it does seem we need a filteration system well I've priced them up and to my shock horror the prices for what they are really beyond  a joke!

But needs must  Rolling Eyes me being me... and not prepared to "splash" out £100 on a plastic box! I found an excellent link showing you how to make a basic filter and also whats called a "biofilter" made from 99p shop bits and pieces (im going to get the sponge's from tesco 14p a pack of 5 lol!) Razz

I will have ago at making one as soon as and post some pics hopefully this maybe of use to anyone with a fish pond that dosent like me want to break the bank

Good luck morlan75, and some pics would be great!  We don't have a pond, but we do have a couple of tanks of tropical fish which seem to need an awful lot of maintenance (they're OH's responsibility!!)...
Libby

really interested in this, so shall follow closely!

Very Happy My OH has kept tropicals for years until recently... very high maintenance indeed. We did want a Marine tank but tbh even with his slight knowledge we said a big "NO" because so much cost involved (as with everything now  Sad ) and correct maintenance is really hard work.

I'm hopeing all goes well with the Koi havent got any pic's as yet as they are only just getting into a routine and to know me so still panic darting about abit so hard even with a good camera to get any good shots  Crying or Very sad

Hopefully this week we'll be building our "biofilter" so will keep updateing to let you know the progress/pitfalls soon  Very Happy
