Ornamental auberginesAre they edible?
I have a few packets but not sure whether to plant them as I'm focussing on foodstuff planting right now.

I've never heard of ornamental aubergines - I think the ordinary ones are very ornamental in themselves.
I guess so long as they are actually aubergines there's no reason not to eat them?

The purple variety obviously are edible, ornamentals tend to be smaller, and white. Maybe because they are golf ball sized the flesh is almost non existent?
This variety is Solanum melongena "Mohican" f1 hybrid, supplied by Thompson and Morgan. The seed packet gives no clue about food applications.

Personally i think another row of carrots would be better and if attractive is called for, then some nasturtiums (why can't I ever spell that). Bright, colourful and attract all the bugs

Yup, that one's edible (and quite tasty, for all it's small).
I still like the purple ones though - the flowers are gorgeous.
