I am not sure what to do about a problem i think i might have. I have lived here for 4 months now, but all of a sudden i have been getting mail over the last 2 weeks for a person that nobody has heard of round here. This is the 3rd letter today, which is a special delivery that the PO have put a card through the door for. As far as i know, the only people that have lived here were the couple i bought the house off. I phoned the PO who say just return the letters. The council said the same and the Police help desk was busy. So am i being paranoid or not??? The nearest phone box has been vandalised and so i have to keep going out of my way to post these darn things. Some thing doesn't feel right about this situation!!!!!!! Shocked Rolling Eyes Mad

Who is the letter from? It might be worth contacting the sender and asking where they got the address from? Are all the letters from the same person or different senders?

we had the same problem at our previous address, we were getting mail for people that hadn't lived there for 5 or more years including some very strange stuff in plain brown wrappers that i was too embarrassed to put in the rubbish in case the bin men thought they were ours

in the end i just chucked it all out or burned it and forgot about it.................

Talking about post.
I am still waiting for at least 3 parcels that where posted before the postal strike, all from different areas but they seem to have disappeared of the face of the earth. I did contact the places I purchased from, one, sent a replacement, 1 is looking into it and 1 sent me a scanned copy of the proof of postage then told me that 7 other parcels he had postaed had also disappeared. I suggested as all these parcels had gone missing he went to his local post office and did something about it I'm still waiting???

Libby I'm still waiting for one parcel, it was sent recorded so I have a tracking number, according to the website it hasn't been delivered yet (tell me something I don't know) but I expect it's still caught up in the backlog. Another item which was also sent recorded and posted the day before this parcel, arrived yesterday. I think you need to wait a few more days yet before everything during the strike is delivered. Annoying isn't it!
Libby

Well I got one of them yesterday, so they are coming through in dribs and drabs.

I sent a parcel to G over two weeks ago, and that has disappeared off the face of the earth too - it had her bank statements, and three little black tops that she had forgotten to pack so she is not best pleased. I will phone today and see if it has arrived yet. Amazingly though, everything I've sent since has been arriving next day!
Jojo

I posted a parcel this week and asked if the post was ok now,I was told the things that are posted now are being delivered on time, but the stuff that was posted before the strike has still got to be sorted, what a way to run a postal service Sad

bl**dy post !!!!

i have bought several items from the USA in the past month. all bought within a week of each other.

the first item was transfers or decals......on paper...they came thru within a week of buying them, no prob.
the second item was again decals......they took 4 weeks to get here...my postman gave me a card that said i had to collect them from the main office, and i had to pay excess charges for them...£11 extra.

then 3 days after that, i got a letter in the post, from the post office saying i had a parcel waiting in the main office......that had excess to pay £34 ! this was water proof winter rugs for the goats.....

apparently VAT had to be charged on the items in the packages......!!!!

the customs charged the vat, then on top of that the post office charged £8 aswell.

what the hell is going on....?
i was fuming i can tell you.

the decals cost me £18, then the postage from USA ( her postage anyway ) was £10, then the excess charges on top.......it cost me £39 for 4 pieces of paper with waterslide transfers on !

the coats were another matter, they were worth every penny, even if i have had to pay double for them,( to the lady who made them ) they are hand made to my specifications, my colour aswell as the herd name and the animals name embroidered on them, only costing £5 each........but to have the post office charge me aswell.....gggggrrrrr
