I like the idea of the lavender and salt body scrub.
When we were in japan we went to an onsen, hot springs and relaxation. One of the rooms was a very hot steamy one with a large barrel of hot salt in the middle of the floor. You took handfuls of it and rubbed it on. Smooth as the proverbial afterwards. I wonder if the lavender would release more of its oils if it was warmed before use?

now thats an interesting idea, hadn't thought of that one. shall try later, any excuse to wallow around in the bathroom for an hour or two Wink

It was really QUITE hot salt! I needed to take a handful and then put it down next to me on the towel pretty quickly and then use it in smaller, still warm batches. It's a bit like a sauna, so you shower, then salt, and there's no water until you go in a shower afterwards.
The best way to recreate it would be to have a wetting shower, then rub with the hot salt, then rinse, then have a washing shower, and finally immerse your clean body in a bath, purely for relaxation, not washing. It's not very water friendly, but the Japanese shower (to wash) by wetting the skin, turning the water off, soaping up, then turning it on again to rinse, so the cleansing part is very economical of water, especially if you have a power shower which is quite wasteful of water.

Cabbage patch - is there a make of aromatherapy oils that you think are maybe better than others.

I have bought some from different places - but I hear that some makes are better quality than others - which I would rather use for creams etc.

Thanks

Lottie, I use Abbey Essentials and find them very good and a reasonable price. abbeyessentials.com

Eve Taylor are good quality and the company I used when working professionally but they are expensive.

Neals Yard Remedies also good and all organic but again I think they are quite expensive.

Lavender Salt Body Scrub

7oz sea salt
1oz lavender flowers
12fl oz almond oil
20 drops lavender oil

Blend the dry ingredients and put into a wide necked jar (I use an old kilner type jar)

Pour the oil over.
Thats it!

You can vary the ingredients - use more or less lavender as you like, try different herbs and essential oils depending on preference.

Don't worry about weighing everything carefully, really not necessary, just bung it all together, scoop a handful, apply in circular strokes all over except face, and shower off. I like to soak a while in the bath before showering off, lovely soft skin after.

PLEASE don't slip in the bath and the downside is its going to need a clean afterwards!

that's so easy, definitely going to make some of that. I have lots of rosemary in the garden that I don't know what to do with so might make a rosemary one too, might be nice for winter. thanks cabbage Very Happy

Thanks from me too. Rosemary would be a lovely winter warmer wouldn't it.

Candles around the bath - door locked for perfect peace - maybe holistic music playing softly - bliss.

I have a huge rosemary bush too!

I have had a nettling today picking black berries - really does warm you up Laughing

Rosemary is very good for the circulation, but shouldn't be used if you have high blood pressure. Shocked
