Quite a lot of sugar in it so I would reduce the dates in water and whiz up till mush. I'd start off with maybe a tablespoon of honey and maple then taste. It probably won't be quite as light but should be pretty good if you're using eggs.
I'm sure I've got a sugar free frosted topping somewhere, I'll have a look. Might make this myself I love squashes.
