Rats!I think we may have found out my chickens egg laying problem or should I say lack of it!
I found a Rats nest ugh! horrible creatures bl**dy huge too! Quite a few egg shells in there too, anyway its been totally demolished what worries me is the chicken run they have no access to the food as it is all in plastic sealed containers is there anything else I need to do?????
By the way we do live out in the wilds and there are plenty of rats around anyway!!!!

Has anyone near you got a dog you can borrow to do the job?

sadly no. my cats usually do a bit of ratting but to be honest I think this lot are a bit large

we keep all our poultry and other feeds in metal dustbins and htat keeps out all raiders, they aren't all that expensive and it balances out when yyou take into account the amount the rats will eat if they can

the plastic containers are like smaller versions of the large blue jam containers people use for water butts and are curretnly still sound, but if they go I will get some metal bins! Thanks
