Shingles

Does anyone know of an alternative cure for recurring Shingles please ?
I had it first back in January, and now it seems I`m never really clear of it.It goes for a couple of weeks then its back again.
Thanks Lyn

I'll ask Greenlady when she gets home from work. She's a qualified herbalist and might be able to suggest something, but without a full history it's difficult to give advice. CP is a homeopathist so might also be able to suggest something. Smile

You poor thing - I had a really really bad attack in March which affected all my internal nerves endings - nightmare. It still hasn't gone across my middle.

I have started practising Reiki - don't know if it helps but it does make me feel better in myself - happy and with more energy.

I no longer take pain killers for it . I guess it is the same as for most things. Eat healthily, try to get some rest (I didn't practice what I preached in the rest department as I found that working was a distraction) but rest up a bit in between working helps. If you can find the cause of the shock or stress which sparked it off - and try and sort that out - that does help a great deal too.

My most sincere best wishes and hope that your 'flare up' will soon pass.

I`m sure its stress that sparks it off, I have it across my shoulders and on the back of my scalp at the moment, it is going off my shoulders, but my scalp gets very painful

Don't know, but you have my sympathy.

I had it when I was 14 - not at all a bad attack from what I've heard since, but it was still really painful and uncomfortable. And T had a belt about a year ago, which was worse than mine.

I looked up what he should be eating, but I've forgotten it all now.

Again, no help, just lots of sympathy.

That sounds nasty. If you can pinpoint the stress and find some way to counteract it - that helps.

One thing you can try if you think you might have any stress during the day is to visualise yourself wrapped in a cloak or blanket or something that you feel protected in. You can do that if you get into a confrontational or annoying situation - for example - if you have to drive to work or anywhere and you get stuck in a traffic jam and feel annoyed about it - just sit there and visualise what I just mentioned. Or if someone is giving your grief on the phone - or if you have to face someone or a situation that makes you feel apprehensive or nervous.

'Protect' yourself, and as you visualise it, tell yourself that you are safe, that noone can penetrate your cloak or whatever it is you cover yourself with. Don't use a 'black or dark colour' when you are visualising - that won't work. I 'use' a lovely sun shiney yellow - light weight, that lets me see through the fineness of it - but no one can actually 'see' beyond the person completely drapped in yellow.

I felt silly visualising that when I first started doing it - so just did it when I woke up and before I got up. It really works if you practise. I just do it automatically now. Whether is a letter, bill, situation or just a niggle if someone gets on my nerves Laughing

Thanks for that Lottie, I`ll try it. We`ve had a lot of money worries recently, and I`m sure thats whats causing it. Also my job, I like working there, but I never know what hours I`m getting more than 4 weeks in advance, so I never know where I am with money. Some weeks I work 20 hours which isn`t enough, then another week, I can be wiorking 39 hours, I`m going to look for another job after Christmas, which has the same hours every week.
I am, by nature a worrier though, and I know the main thing I worry about is money !

Since practising Reiki and using the 'defence' visualising, it really works for me. I tend to do it every day now - out of habit.

We often can not change what is going on around us - but we can change how we react to it.

My sons, both Reiki masters now suggested my practising Reiki - I used to be a bit of a worrier too - but like you had lots to be concerned about.

I guess it is just putting coping strategies into place.

If you want to pm me at any time please do - I am a listening 'ear' if you need one.

I had a word with Greenlady and although she can't give specific advice she does say the same as everyone else has already said, visualisation is a great tool as Lottie said. Also keep that immune system boosted with lots of healthy food, don't allow yourself to become rundown. Echinacea is a good immune booster, I use the teabags cheaper than buying drops. Smile
