Simple fundraising ideas wanted

Has anyone got any original fundraising ideas for a Christmas Stall in aid of charity.

I have made jams, with more to do, and will make mincemeat, can't make too many cakes as there is a cake stall.

I don't knit. I will have a raffle of course. I want it to be as different and as eyecatching as possible.

I could make sweets and biscuits - I need things to be not too expensive for me to make.

I think that I have to have a licence to sell home made soap don't I?

A tall order huh?

So far I have 52 pots of jams and marmalades!

The Christmas Fayre is on November 4th - so not much time.

Deaf/Blind UK are supplying banners and balloons and some Christmas cards to sell.

Over to you if you have any ideas that would be great. Anything at all that would sell well - in your experience.

One thing I want to try is a "sealed bid" auction: if you can get hold of a couple of pieces of artwork or something, you get people to write down their bid, and post it into a box. At the end of the event, you sort through the bids, and the highest one gets the item.

That is something I've been meaning to do for ages now, but the venues ( as I would need a stall somewhere reasonably busy) kept letting me down. Of course, that wouldn't be a problem for you.

I was going to have an oil painting, a handmade bowl, a carved piece of stone, and a ring.

That's a good idea - might be a bit to sophisticated for this Christmas Fayre but certainly a brilliant idea for the bigger summer fete.

Thanks for that.

Guess the name of the angel....

I have an angel/broom you are welcome to.
50p guess the name.........
a sheet with names on, people write their names next to names then all names on bits of paper, draw one out of hat!

Also I am starting my christmas card commissions later this week, do you want a couple?

Guess the name of the angel - now that would be do-able and such a topical idea. The fayre is only in the afternoon for about three hours so that would be great thanks Denise, that would be brilliant, bound to get the attention of the young children with their mums.

I already posted asking about making/printing out Christmas cards on the Christmas post.

Would appreciate that

We have the money Christmas tree.

All the children are sent home with an envelope, to put loose change in, and then bring back to school, before the event.

We then use the little wages envelopes, and put a couple of big wns in, like £2 or £1 a few 50p etc. Teh envelopes are fixed to the small table sized Christmas tree with pegs and the children pay 20p a go.

every one wins something, but some only have 5p in, and even if it is a 20p win it is better with 2 or 3 coins rather than one.

The first year we had spare envelopes, as we didn't know how busy it would be and I spent a lot of time hidden in a cupboard filling more up as we sold out so quickly.

Don't forget you are fundraising so be a bit mersonry and don't let everyone come away with more that 20 p, even though the parents have donated the prize money in the first place.

how about a christmas stocking full of things and sewn up at the top and people pay a sum to guess what is inside the stocking by feeling through the cloth................you get the money and the person who guesses gets the stocking

good one for kids

Also, you can do guess the number of X in a jar, where X is a seasonal thing, or guess the weight of the Christmas pudding, or something. Same lines as guess the name of the angel, just charge not too much per entry.

Things where everyone gets a prize might go down well, as they are "instant win" as well, which might be more suited to the attention span of lots of children!

Nice one Haize - got to put my thinking cap on now
