I've spent the last three hours trying to get the tension right on this sewing machine and am getting really really  Twisted Evil

The top line looks great but underneath the thread isn't picking up properly at all.    I just can't get it right.

Any ideas please before I chuck the damn thing out the window!!
Kathy

Don't despair, I had major probs with an older machine and found this guide. Everything you need, follow it to the letter and your machine will work!

There's lots of other articles on the site too, relating to all things sewing machine.  Smile

Thanks Kathy, I'll have a good look at that later.  When I'm feeling strong!!!

I printed it out and sat beside the sewing machine doing a step by step. Let me know how you get on.  Smile

Oops I don't think I updated this.  The weekend I went to look after Uncle, I took said sewing machine and Kathy's instructions with me.

After setting it all up and switching on, it wouldn't work at all.  After much fiddling and muttering I gave up on it and  stopped to make Uncle a cup of tea.

Just as we both sat down the sewing machine started working all on its own, only at supersonic speed and...

.....smoke started pouring out of the foot peddle  Shocked  Shocked

I pulled the plug out pdq and dread to think what would have happened if we hadn't been in the same room for a while.  Aforementioned sewing machine is now officially retired!
Kathy

I think it might be the capacitor, my sewing machine man showed us how he repaired a similar problem on my old machine. It should be repairable and foot pedals can still be bought, might be worth finding a repair man?
Kathy

What happened to the machine CP, did you see about getting it repaired?
Kathy

CP, did it blow up completely then?  Shocked

My Uncle declared it too dangerous to use any more and bought me a little replacement.  Nothing expensive and it does acknowledge that our house is a smoke free zone!!!
Kathy

Laughing  Laughing Let us know how you get on with the replacement won't you.
