My OH, who is not known for his crafty tendencies (although supportive of mine) has decided he would like to try soapmaking.... it's like cooking after all, and he's pretty good at that.
Eldest son, 16 was seen to be browsing the book and stroking the cinnamon soap Jesse sent, in deep thought. Eventually he pronounced making your own soap as "cool.... wierd, but cool". He is doing Higher Chemistry, so I think he is looking at is as an opportunity to turn the kitchen into a large Chem lab. Either way, he wants to have a go too!
Funny how, if you turn it into something culinary or scientific, it's fine, but if you had to knit your own soap from a pattern, it would be very un-cool!

oh that's so cool to know that it's cool, if you get what I mean I love making soap, still fascinates me to watch as the oils turn into liquid soap and then thicken, it's like magic

My friend came round tonight.
She says I feature often in her diary on Wednesday night!
Didn't know I was so famous.
Anyway she says there will be a big smiley face in it today because I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks and she wondered what I would be up to next.... so the soap making didn't disappoint her, she'll have plenty to write about!
I have the brown rice, the wall hangings and the birkenstocks, so the soap-making fits right in. As a former midwife she'd have had me booked for a home birth before I even asked. Somewhat surprisingly, I would never have one, (too old now anyway) I was very glad for all the technology at the time and one son would probably not be here now if I hadn't been safely booked for a hospital delivery.
So soap-making just fitted right in with the stereotype. I now have to find something to buck the trend.
Would never want to be predictable after all.

n, I was booked for a home birth with J but I was let down right at the last few minutes (almost literally!), but I always kept an open mind about where J would be born and I was happy with the result ie little baby girl
