Socks

I have started a pair of socks. It is awhile since I knitted some and I forgot what a pain they are till you get a few rows going! I'm pleased with the pattern though!!

Jacky

Now they look good   Very Happy
Libby

Sad  but I have just realised that the 2nd section of the pattern I have done totally wrong  Confused

1st part * knit 4 purl2 *
2nd part *k2 p2 k2*
3rd part * p2 k4*

I have been doing on the 2nd part k2 p2 k2 p2 k2 p2 k2 p2

instead of k2 p2 k2 k2 p2 k2 k2 p2 k2 k2 p2

do you think it will matter, well it will to me, I think I will undo it  Crying or Very sad
Jacky

If it was me, I would have to unpick it   Sad   it would annoy me more if I left it wrong than the time to unpick the wrong bit.
Libby

already done  Sad
Libby

I had to undo the whole lot Sad

I had hoped to go back to the top of the rib but kept missing stitches so got angry gave up and currently there is nothing on the needles Sad
Libby

I have restarted this and have the rib and a couple of rows of the pattern but to be honest not done much this weekend!
Jacky

I have also started, I have two more pattern repeats before turning the heel about 18 cm.  It's a very pretty subtle pattern and the colour stripes seem to match every 4 rows   Very Happy
Libby

Here I am using four needles, watching TV and following a pattern! Simple  Very Happy  I am having no problems following this pattern at all!

I am enjoying this and so glad Jacky suggested I do both the shawl and the socks together, cos if I had been doing just the shawl I think I would have given up!
Lizzie

That looks like a lovely pattern - is it available online anywhere?
Libby

No, but I can send you a copy if you would like?
Lizzie

ooooh yes please!
Libby

Righty ho! Very Happy
Libby

When Jacky popped in yesterday, she had bought her socks so we compared, mine are on 3.75 needles and hers are on smaller and its amazing how different the pattern looks.
This is mine currently!

Kathy

Looking good Libby, I do like the colours.  Very Happy
Libby

That wool was my burfday pressie from Jacky  Very Happy  The colours are even better in real life  Very Happy
Lizzie

I've got the pattern!  Thank you so much Libby, I'm looking forward to doing these (at least they're on the list... Laughing ).

xx
Libby

Have got to the bit where the some stitches are put on a thread and have stopped as this is usually where I go wrong with the pattern. Confused  But I will have a go and do a bit more honest Very Happy
Jacky

Libby I left my stitches on the needle and moved on, much easier for knitting when the gusset is done.

I have finished sock one. except the kitchner stitch and have done the rib and a couple of the pattern rows on the second sock   Very Happy
Libby

Rolling Eyes oh flippin heck!
Libby

I'm stuck  Rolling Eyes  I have knitted down the back of the heel and have got to the shaping for the back of the heel and somehow or other the pattern is the wrong side  Confused  apart from that I don't understand the pattern at this point  Shocked  I spoke to Jacky yesterday and she said its an odd pattern and I think she adapted another one. I don't know if I can do that as this is only my 2nd pair of socks  Laughing
Libby

I have put these down for a few days, but picked them up yesterday and undid the bit I did wrong and I see where I went wrong, so have started the heel bit again!
Libby

Over the difficult bit after instruction from my friend. (I think I'm a show me person, becuase once Jacky showed me I was fine)

My only worry is what happens if I pick up too many stitches Jacky????
Jacky

You either unpick that line and pick up less stitches, I pick up between 16 - 18 stitches depending on the length of heel flap.  Or you do more decreasing rows, which if you have a high instep some people do anyway, nothing is wrong, if just will be a bit different, artistic license  Wink

I will also take a picture of my sock so you can see the decrease rows just to remind you.

But folks Libbys sock is so much better, even though it's the same pattern but Libby has done hers on slightly larger needles than I have, which makes the pattern stands out so much better on her sock.  Really Libby you are doing a brilliant job   Very Happy
Libby

Embarassed  Embarassed  your making me blush  Laughing

Libby

I am really dadling on this, even though I can knit it faster than the shawl! They should be ready by Christmas  Laughing
Libby

Libby
