You have many talents Fish!! The horn buttons take my fancy:) Well done!

We used to have a friend who tied his own flies and it was fascinating to watch. Do you make anything else from the antlers? The buttons look lovely. Is it a very difficult material to work with?

its the same as bone to work with,a bit smelly when it gets hot on a sanding wheel! but it polishes up like glass! but for best results the mammoth ivory is tops, but very hard! i hope to post pics of my scrimshaw but my 35mm type photography is very blury for fine/close up detail.

Clamp a hook, get some feathers, string and some nail varnish and you're off.

Just reminded me of another hobby I need to unpack once we move.
Leonie2

fish or mrutty would one of you like to do a how to demo on the forum? your instructions sound simple mrutty but to someone who has never done one I wouldn't know how or where to start. no rush but perhaps something to think about if you find some time in the future. Smile

I won't even point out that there is good fishing by my new house and that it's not far from Deb's or that Ali has a BBQ area so that he can cook fresh sea food. And I won't point out the great value BBQ packs that Ali has or that there would be THREE very friendly springers to walk Wink Laughing Laughing
