Spinning merino for socks (for n)Noticed your comments on spinning merino for socks on your blog n.
Mr Kathy has spun the merino with tencel through it, it looks really lovely and will add that toughness you are looking for for your socks. He carded it to blend it all together.

Does the tencel make it glisteny like Blue Faced Leicester?
I wondered about tencel, and twistfibrecraft have it wheras I would need to order the recycled bottle fibre from Whighams.
I also wondered about doing the tencel as a single and then plying it with the coloured roving which would preserve the space dyed look of the different colours instead of blending them all together.

Yes the tencel is glisteny, I'll ask Mr Kathy about single ply when it gets back. If I remember rightly he said you need to do it very fine and at speed. Also, a little goes a long way so don't buy tons!
