Spring watch!

I know it's still winter, but I've noticed the first signs of spring. Last week I saw some canadian geese flying overhead, heading in the opposite direction to what they were going just a few months ago. The spring bulbs are starting to break through the surface and the clematis and honeysuckle are sprouting new growth. I've also noticed that just after 4pm it's still not dark.

Post in here as you see the first signs of spring.

Do you do phonology? It's the study of climate change by monitoring the signs of Spring (and Autumn). It's run by the Woodland trust annd I've been doing it for years - before Bill Oddie and co got mixed up in it. It's very uplifting to do in the

Haven't done much of an investigation round the garden, but my forsythia has been pushing out a lone flower for the past couple of months (there always seems to be just one on there, but a different one each time!) and local flowering cherries have been blossoming for about a month!

Must have a look tomorrow.

We've still got roses blooming in our garden (or should that be blooming roses...) and I did notice yesterday that the pheasants are looking like they're in their courting plumage already (very beautiful).

I *think* we've got bulbs starting to come through.

There was a couple of wasps in the garden just before Christmas Rolling Eyes

Oh, I must keep an eye out for Snowdrops, they are one of my favourite flowers, and the previous inhabitants of our house were mad on them too, so they are everywhere in our garden!

Noticed the first daffs out recently - on a roundabout locally. They looked as if they'd been out for a while.

My cornus is flowering - but then it seems to have been flowering since autumn, crazy thing. And my rhubarb has been sprouting for ages - quite small, but it's definitely growing!

I must remember to check the snowdrops.
