Sprouting seedsOther than mustard and cress as a child I've never tried these before so have been giving them a try. Very nutritious, full of vitamins and minerals.
I've grown a sandwich mix which were lovely and this evening will be adding spicy fenugreek to a prawn stir fry. Rocket have a lovely fresh flavour and the beet are really colourful in a salad. All ready in just a few days and really simple.
All the packets are Thompson & Morgan, I haven't had any failed yet and it feels as though spring is here!
Does anyone grow them?

I thought about buying one of those special sprouters but have been using jam jars with a piece of muslin as a lid.
I think the important thing is to rinse and drain twice a day to stop the seeds going mouldy.
Go on Libby, try again

I like to "sprout" and have done all sorts, alfalfa and chick peas being my favourite. I've a square tiered sprouter thingy and also quite a few sprouting jars. Never thought of sprouting rocket seeds though, I'll give that a try next time.

Apparently you can sprout anything and enjoy them, just depends on personal preference.

This is new to me but they have all worked so far.
I put some seed in a jam jar, fill to the brim with cold water, put a piece of muslin or even kitchen paper over and fasten with an elastic band, drain them off. I leave them on the kitchen windowsill and repeat again in the evening.
Haven't tried them somewhere warm and dark ie an airing cupboard.

I love sprouting seeds. As a child, my father used to rig up a polythene tent on top of the fridge which made use of the waste heat from the refridgeration process and he sprouted many seeds ... both for eating and for planting out.
You can use any seeds as long as they haven't been treated with anything to help the germination process etc.
I have the tiers of an electric steamer for sprouting my seeds but jars with muslin or net work well too. I prefer nylon net as it doesn't stain
