TatIn my bargain job lot today there was a booklet called "Learn to Tat", has anyone heard of this?

Is it a cross between lacemaking and crochet? Seem to remember my grandmother doing it.

Yes it seems to be looking at the pictures, I always thought "tat" meant rubbish!

The lady I buy my bird seed from on the market sits and does it. It is like very fine crochet work

Tat kind of means useless frilly things
You know, when little old ladies have 6 net curtains per window, a doily underneath every ornament, and so on
Still, frilly things in moderation are perfectly nice

It is a cross between lace making and crotcheting. I've been tatting for 20 years, in so much as I can do it, but have never made any really big items, loads of earrings and snowflakes for christmas cards.

I do tatting, although I am not great at it. You need to use a "tatting shuttle" and I have been known to say "shatting tuttle" by accident.

Beadgarden I got an old fashioned booklet in amongst a pile of old crochet patterns, would it be any use to you?
