Tat

In my bargain job lot today there was a booklet called "Learn to Tat", has anyone heard of this?
Cabbagepatch

Is it a cross between lacemaking and crochet? Seem to remember my grandmother doing it.

Yes it seems to be looking at the pictures, I always thought "tat" meant rubbish! Rolling Eyes

The lady I buy my bird seed from on the market sits and does it. It is like very fine crochet work

Tat kind of means useless frilly things Laughing

You know, when little old ladies have 6 net curtains per window, a doily underneath every ornament, and so on Razz

Still, frilly things in moderation are perfectly nice Wink Very Happy

It is a cross between lace making and crotcheting. I've been tatting for 20 years, in so much as I can do it, but have never made any really big items, loads of earrings and snowflakes for christmas cards.

I'm very good at making tat.

(In the sense of rubbish that is!)

me too and most of it ends up in the bin.

I'm just tat full stop!!

I do tatting, although I am not great at it. You need to use a "tatting shuttle" and I have been known to say "shatting tuttle" by accident. Embarassed

Beadgarden I got an old fashioned booklet in amongst a pile of old crochet patterns, would it be any use to you?
