The Christmas Knitting ListIs anyone else knitting for England this Christmas? Here's my list of Things I Must Knit...
2 x cotton shoulder bags
5 x small boys jumpers (ranging in size from 9 months old to 5 years
1 x some sort of knitted toy for a baby
2 x large boys socks
And before any of those, I have three quarters of a sleeve to knit to finish OH's latest jumper, but I should get that finished in the next couple of days.
Perhaps if we all posted our knitting lists, we could post progress as we go...?

I'm doing
2 sets of finger puppers (possibly 3)
1 bag (hmm, might that be the same one?!)
2 scarves (maybe 3)
1 clanger (or 2)
something for my sister
I think this might have to be for christmas 2009!

I think I might have to add a clanger or two to my list, now you've reminded me about them Aqui ...

On the knitting machine:
1 cardi, an experiment to get me used to how the tension etc works.
By hand:
I've got 2 hats to finish, 1 is waiting for Mr Kathy to spin more wool.
1 scarf a joint effort by greenlady and myself.
numerous pairs of fingerless mitts
A sideways sleeveless thingy, another experiment, I like experimenting.................

On the knitting machine, the experimental cardigan back is done, took me 30mns so it shouldn't take too long to do.
The joint effort scarf has grown a wee bit but the other items are still in my knitting bag!
How's everyone elses list doing?

I started a cardi for the youngest but its a Debbie Bliss with ducks and sheep so I need to concentrate for it so not much doing there. But..... the dishcloths are flying out.

that's it (i manage 3-5 rows an evening in between feeding j)

a felted bag ... got two more flowers, some leaves and the handle left to do. Oh, and then it needs felting and assembling
|
Lizzie
|
I've still got half a sleeve to do on OH's jumper (although I did manage another 4 rows before I left for work this morning...).
Unfortunately, I had to undo 20 rows yesterday. It's rainbow stripes (yes, really ) and I got an orange and a yellow stripe the wrong way round - that'll teach me to pay more attention to Raymond Blanc than to me knitting...

Fancy me missing this thread especially now when I have re-found knitting
to do:-
at least 3 hugs, fortunately 2 for little girls
4 pairs slipper socks
fingerless gloves lost count
Has anyone used a 'Loopa' before I bought one as they are quite cheap and thought I might make a few more scarves!!!
|
Lizzie
|
Wossa 'Loopa' Libby? Sounds intriguing...
I shouldn't ask, given the length of my list, but do you have a pattern for slipper socks?
|
Libby

Its one of these http://www.cpu-enterprises.com/sirdar/loopa.htm and yes I do have a couple of patterns for slipper socks!

I've been on Ebay arghhhhhhhhhhhh! I really shoudn't even set foot on there!!
But!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got a vintage pattern! Many, many, many years ago my mum had a bedjacket that she totally adored. It basically fell to pieces and we had lost the pattern, but I just found it again yipee! and bought it! I thought I might have a go and make her one for Christmas!!
The only problem is :- I need to work out the needle sizes and I was wondering if one of you clever knitting people could sticky a needle size chart somewhere in the knitting section.
The pattern uses No 7, No 1 No 00 (American No 7, No13, and No 15)

I'll do it now Libby, good idea!

Progress report:
I've finished the sleeve for OH's jumper, sewn the shoulder seams and knitted the neckband, so it's just the sewing left to do (I always get stuck at that point...).
I find I can't sew knitting up during the evenings (too dark) so I've started on #3 grandbaby's hoody - done the back, both fronts and their borders and most of a sleeve (I love knitting small-persons' clothes!). Should finish the sleeve and make a start on the next one this evening.
Once that's finished, it's on to a couple of cotton bags using the pattern Aqui posted...

Another progress report...grandbaby #3's hoody is all knitted and guess what? It needs sewing up now...
I've knitted three of the four sides needed for the two bags.
And I still haven't sewn up OH's jumper...

another bedjacket
2 'Loopa' scarves

Fab stuff Libby - I love the colours on that second scarf
Must get round to taking some photos of the stuff I've done, once they're sewn up of course!!

Sadly it means I'm watching far too much TV in the evenings, as that's when I do most of my knitting! I wish I could take it to the office with me (it would be ideal for long meetings), but I think the bosses might not be too pleased...

I could just see you clicking away

Time for a progress report I think.
I've nearly finished the two bags - there's about half a strap to do and then all the bits are knitted and it's just the dreaded sewing up to do. They're done in natural indigo dyed cotton, which does this to my hands after a couple of rows....!
It's designed to fade like denim when washed...
I've still got to sew up grandbaby #3's hoody and I've knitted the back of grandbaby #1's aran jumper....I WILL post photos of everything once I've done the sewing up!
|
Kathy
|
They look great Libby, you really are getting on well!
Love the colour of the hands Jellycat.
I finished 1 experimental cardigan (photo later) and I can't even remember what else I said I was doing! I've made numerous woven bags. I'll get the whole collection together for a photo shoot once I'm used to the new camera.

I've almost finished the scarf, but then I got distracted by doing J's christmas stocking, which is coming along nicely!

Progress report please? I've posted pics of my stuff!

I've finally made myself sit down and do some sewing up, so...
This is one of two matching bags that I've done for another member of the Shed..
and this is the hoody i've done for #3 grandbaby, who has gorgeous red hair...it still needs buttons but I'm getting those this afternoon.
I've finished the knitting (apart from the neckband) on grandbaby #1's jumper, and started grandbaby #2's jumper.
And I still haven't sewn up OH's rainbow jumper
|
Kathy
|
Oh I missed this Jellycat, I like the bag and have you finished the jumper?
I've finished commissions and am now playing catch up with family presents!
I've got half a hot water bottle cover done (E's request) and I've 2 scarves and a hat to do, oh and Coco needs a scarf for a friend. I've woven and felted 2 bags, just need to line and sew them up.
Has everyone else finished or do you keep getting more loaded onto you!

I'm pleased to report that the Christmas Knitting List is complete Sadly, I've wrapped everything up now so no photos, but there are two aran jumpers for small boys, another hoody for a baby, and a clanger.
I still haven't sewed up the rainbow jumper, but that's not a Christmas pressie, so it doesn't count!
Now I'm knitting a new dishcloth....I really know how to live me
|
Kathy
|
Finally, I've finished the scarves, the hotwater bag cover and have just the handle to sew onto the darker coloured bag. It doesn't show up well in the photo but is subtle shades of bluey/purply/black. (Still knitting your thing Lloyd..........)
