It looks remarkably like the internal organs of a tractor

Hi
Sorry it is a 1949 TEA Ferguson tractor that until summer last year had been rotting on a farm, I got it running and used it for mowing on my field I have now taken it home to restore to its former glory and ready for work when the field dries up

Mark used to be into tractors.
he used to have posters of them all on his wall, visited museums.
When we went to Alton Towers we had to visit the jcb centre.
Had loads of magazines about them.

Mark says he dosn't like tractors anymore.
He says he's an extractor fan

We have just found in our barn an old (1950's I think) huge saw (now I am going to say band saw but I don't really know the blade is about a meter across with big teeth and it goes on the back of a tractor) and an ancient shearing machine (again seems to be powered by tractor) all the parts seem to move ok although rusty. Also 2 old scythes and a couple of rusty old claw foot baths - you know the shaped ones - narrow at the foot end wider at the body end. Any ideas? Should we just take them to the dump?

It sounds like a very exciting project Jerry. How long do you think it will take to get it (dare I say the word?) finished?

Debbie dont you dare chuck them out!!!! They are all worth selling the saw bench I would love!! The tractor implements are worth advertising in tractor mags.....its free!!
The baths are worth taking to a local reclaimation yard
The scythes are noy worth a lot but they do sell 4 acouple of quid or so at farm sales for garden/ shed ornaments

Hi plockett I am hoping to have it completed by the end of April, I just have a little bit of painting left,oh and I still have the bonnet to do which has to be perfect! Then drain and replace all the fluids, still have a few bits to buy as well but my birfday is coming up soon so hope I can talk everybody into buying tractor parts.
When the tractor is done I have a link box to restore to go on the back, it is for carrying milk churns/hay bales etc.

You knew it was a Fordson and that it was 1960! Try asking my OH what make my tractor is she would just swear a lot.
Hope he manages to fix it, I found a complete factory workshop manual that had been put on to cd rom on ebay for my tractor it was only about £3 and has helped me no end.

So when the tractor is done you've got the trailer to do, and then what? I get the impression that you might well find another tractor or similar project Jerry!!! Good luck and keep us posted with your progress - what colour is the tractor going to be btw?

Its gonna be grey as in the shiny bits on the photo, thats the colour it was when it was new
Yes I am sure there are going to be other projects when this one is finished, not sure what yet as the prices are getting high, I am looking for a project for my 5 year old daughter at the moment, she loves tractors and wants to help me all the time, If I get her own she will leave mine alone, but let her develop her skills, she fetches me all the right spanners and bits its quite funny really, both the girls can drive the fergie I am restoring and when it is road registered it will be in their name. The tipping trailer is already stripped of its rotten metal, so wont be long before I can start on that.

Wow I'm impressed at your girls! Mind you I was pretty much the same as a kid - I was always the one helping dad but I can't remember any of it now!!!!!
