The summer soap swap is it still on?

24th June was the date wasn't it for the summer soap making day? Was there a date set for posting the samples off?

I have at last managed to get some coconut oil in little tubs so might have a go at another soap.

Is the swap still going ahead?

If we could extend the date until July 1st for making and August 1st for posting off, I could probably still do this... can you wait for me?

I could certainly wait for you n - no problem - can do a few more batches in the meantime (if I can fit it in)

Oh thank you, I have been worrying about it, but hopefully in a week or two it should be posssible to do it safely!
I am still up for coffee soap, supposed to neutralise onion and garlic smells in the kitchen.

That sounds great n - my son brought me some coffee bean stuff - forgotten what it is called - and I have been drying it. Not sure if it is enough so will have to look up the recipe.

Talking of which and changing the subject. I seem to remember that you made some cream a while ago, and you made you your own recipe or modified one, and used some basic 'cream' that you bought over the counter.

Do you have that recipe still?

Don' t worry if you don't

Yes, that's fine with me n Very Happy The soap swap thread is in the soapmaking section, I'll lock this thread otherwise we'll end with two threads and I'll get confuddled Rolling Eyes Laughing

You can buy emulsifying ointment or aqueous cream from a chemist (or possibly a supermarket). Emulsifying ointment is a greasier, heavier formulation. Aqueous cream is a very soft cream (softer than Nivea) which you can also use to wash with. The molecules have a moisurising end and a saponifying end so it can be used to wash with too. Either will blend with a perfume or other addition eg herbal oil if you melt them
gently in the oven so they become liquid and just stir to blend.

ooops sorry Embarassed , didn't see lottie's question so have unlocked the thread. Moving it to the soap section though so the info doesn't get lost. Very Happy

Sorry Autumn - couldn't find the soap section when I posted. Thought it had not been copied across.

You have been really busy coping things yesterday haven't you. Hope it is all done now, and that you are getting time to relax
Leonie2

No probs Lottie Very Happy . Yes, there's always time to relax Laughing
Becki

I would love to give this a go, but things are way too hetic at the moment.

Never mind when we move things will calm down a bit.......

I just looked through the post again 'How to make soap' and am going to have a go at making that one too. I will colour it with paprika and add honey of course.

Just need a day this week when it is tipping it down with rain so that I am trapped indoors.
Leonie2

I hope you get that day Lottie, and I hope the rain is here too because we're desperate for it. Just been to the lottie and it's so dry there.

Becki, we'll have another soap swap later in the year, perhaps you'll have time to join in for that one. Very Happy

I hope so, I have never done alot of things, but I would really love to give this a go. I will probably be calling on you all, all the time, "what do I do if" and "where and when do I plant this and that"
Getting very excited now Very Happy Laughing
