Choose a place where things just get dumped. Garage, office, shed maybe.
For the next week spend 15 mins a day sorting and throwing.
In my case it will be my office. It tends to get stuffed dumped, that is waiting to go into the loft, clothes that don't fit, paperwork that still needs sorting, magazines, videos, etc. Now mix it up with the fact that I would like to start crafting again, on my office table, and can't even get to the cupbords, and you have the problem.
The mess is not necessarily mine, but if I don't start on it, no one will. So I am not adopting my martyred self, but I am going to reward myself, by improving a space that will eventually help me.
Other people may not be able to get into their garage. (cough cough!)
I will be taking stuff to the tip, recycling, charity shop, as needs be, and not saving it up for ages, but taking it when there is a car load.
Just do it 15 mins at a time.

Get on and do 15 mins today then.
Don't kill yourself, or get out more than you can deal with, just give it an undivided 15 minutes, and fill the car at the same time with the rubbish, and take a trip to the tip.

He'll kill me and it will be all your fault *sniff sniff*

For us it is what can only be described as the room of chaos (aka box room/bedroom 2/J's future nursery before we started cosleeping). I'll see if J will let me have 15 mins. it really does need a lot of tidying!

15 minutes is a looooooonnggggg time - I did mine when I had to look for the warranty on my washing machine which is flooding the utility room every time I use it. I buy 5 year warranties with computers and ashing machines and usually end up needing to use them
