Tooth FairyWee E, came running down the stairs at bedtime this evening to show me her first gap, bless, eyes were sparkling and she was grinning fit to burst.
We leave £1 under the pillow from the tooth fairy, what do other people do?

Same here, £1 from the tooth fairy. M lost hers, so I had to pretend I found it and slipped one of E's under the pillow instead.
Beats a couple of years ago, on holiday in Devon. Mark hit E in the face with a ball and we lost that one in the sand

I've just realised that my tooth fairy was pre-decimal

Farthing, half pence, penny, tuppence, thrupence, tanner, 2 bob, half crown, 10 bob note, I remember them all and you could get 4 chewy sweets for a penny (or a farthing each) and if you got a 10 bob note, well, it was like winning the lottery!

Remember blackjacks and fruitsalads? Eight for one penny. Bargain!

Kathy

Don't make 'em the same these days.......................

You can still get blackjacks (but in a packet, not individually - it's just not the same...), but I haven't seen fruit salad chews for years....
There was another chew sweet that was sort of caramel and white colours, but I can for the life of me remember what it was called.
And then there were the little packets of parma violet sweets - yummy!
No wonder we needed the tooth fairy

We leave money under the pillow.
One late night my son lost one of his teeth came into us and showed it us.The night in question we had no money in the house what so ever only from the one and twos pot.
so i told my son that i had a email from the tooth fairy and because it was so late at night she was rather tired and she would collect the tooth the following night.(by then i would have gone to the cash point and got some change. He agreed and him and his tooth went to bed..
The following morning my son was really upset because unbeknown to us he had put the tooth under his pillow anyway and he thought that the fairy didnt want his tooth.after the tears and the never minds he went of to school.
i felt so bad for him i brought him the latest harry potter dvd and placed it under the pillow along with a pound for the tooth .
I also included a note from the fairy stateing that because she was unable to come last night he got a extra present.
The result was my son thinks the tooth fairy is the best thing since sliced bread and i was 15 quid out of pocket

it was 20p when I last used the tooth fairy! And i remember penny sweets, but in my day they were a penny each. Although I think flying saucers were 2p each.
that was bizarre at work when I mentioned pound notes and the others didn't beloieve they ever existed. Also they didn't remember half pennies. That made me feel old!
