Tuesday 29th September

Morning all  Very Happy

It's dull and damp here this morning, although it feels like it hasn't rained for weeks so it's quite welcome really.

Poor Penny-the-bonkers-lurcher seems to be feeling a bit under the weather still - she ate nearly nothing yesterday and I think she has a temperature again.  I need to ring the vet to see if they have her test results back yet so I'll see what they say.

A car has just driven past the office with a small grey dog in hot pursuit, wearing a buster collar...very odd!

Have a great day everyone  Very Happy

Bizarre??

Foggy here this morning, but it is clearing quickly, hope to start cleaning the greenhouse this morning.
Other than that a very quiet day!!!

Its lovely and sunny here in Bristol, and I just might ride my bike to work, the only thing is, when I finish work, and have to ride it home when I`m tired, last time I ended up walking most of the way !
I`m really looking forward to Friday, I`m going to a Creative stitches and Hobbycraft show in Cardiff !  and no one wants to come with me, so I`ll have a lovely day all to myself  Very Happy   if anyones interested, its at Cardiff Internaional Arena, from 9.30 till 5.30
  have a good day everyone
Kathy

Morning all, raining here but it'll help to fill the horses water buckets!

It's all quiet here, Coco and Mr Kathy are off for 10 days, a meditation retreat in Hereford. They left at 5 this morning and are around Manchester now! Of course this means I have to do ALL the animal stuff, that'll keep me busy.

I need to get some shopping and do a bit of banking so I'll get off and do that shortly. After that I'm going to warp up the loom, I'll post about that in another section.

Lizzie, hope Penny's ok.
Libby

bushed now!!  Just spent 2 hours jet washing the greenhouse, I had to get it done, tomorrow I shall hopefully bubblewrap it!!! Probably the most I've done for ages, my left thigh muscle is very wobbly now Rolling Eyes

You might not have noticed that I have been missing Confused   I have not had internet, and now I only have a computer working in my studio at the end of the garden - so am not on line much for obvious reasons.

The 'up'side is that I no longer go on it first thing in the morning and get carried away into cyberspace and end up staying on it too long - ditto in the evenings - the 'down' side is and was that I lost all my bookmarks etc - and couldn't find my way home to the shed!

Nice to be back in

I did wonder where you'd gone Lottie, I just assumed you were busy with the allotment! Lovely to see you back.  Very Happy

After work tonight we popped into the allotments, borrowed a neighbours strimmer and topped the high weeds at the top, then lifted two more strips of weed control fabric and forked over the ground. When we watered the brassiccas we raised clouds of 'orrid little white flies, whatever they are. Tomorrow, plant the broad beans and more winter onions...................
nanny-now and forever

nice to see you back lottie and also lloyd whom we haven't seen much of lately

just when you think it's safe to go into the water.........

and everything is moving along rather well, something happens...

mr nanny went off to do the morning checks on the horses and found Gypsy cast in a ditch in one of the furthest fields....i knew nothing about it till he rang the barn from his mobile to ask for help and for me to call the vet...i happened to be there because i was talking to the two volunteers who haven't been here since all the infections we had so i sent them down the ravine field and rang the vet....went down to have a look and there she was, in the ditch though a fairly shallow one but she had been there for some time and couldn't get her legs underneath her.

i came back up to the yard to get the winch and some ropes when the other volunteer had arrived, he is a big strapping guy so he went down ...found the winch etc and took that, they started talking about using the tractor- it's only 2 wheel drive and i was a bit concerned about it and i suggested trying our neighbours first, no one answered the calls so it was decided to use our tractor...by this time the vet was there as well and she went down....slowly, slowly into the field with the tractor and then we could only watch as despite standing on the brakes, it started to slide down the slope towards the ravine...."oh my goodness" we all said (well it was a bit stronger than that)- nothing we could do about it...

he sort of slid down the slope headed for the lip of the ravine but managed to turn the tractor just in time -believe me, i am not exagerating when i say that.  he slowly got to where he should be and while i was trying to ring someone else and failing, the 5 of them managed to put the ropes round the horse who was exhausted by now and nearly giving up...they all pulled while the tractor tried to move forward and managed to drag her out of the ditch and when i got back down there, the vet was sorting out a saline drip...

after about half an hour Gypsy stood up and managed to wobble up to the yard where she stayed for the day looking rather sorry for herself, she must be stiff and sore....she is in the back paddock for tonight and hopefully will make a full recovery...

the tractor didn't make it back up the slope though and is still in the field awaiting assistance....

mama said i would have days like this...
Kathy

Shocked  Shocked Good God Nanny, you certainly have exciting times for such a remote place. Poor Gypsy, hope she makes a full recovery, and you get the tractor back in one piece.
lloyd

Libby
