We're having a summer barbeque at the office (in the car park, to be precise!) and I've been tasked with providing some veggie food. So far, I've visitied the vegetarian society pages and come away with recipes for:
Aubergine and Halloumi Rolls
Tandoori-style Paneer Tikka Kebabs
and
Spiced Sweet Potato Slices
What I'm after is a foolproof veggie burger recipe that won't fall apart on the grill. I'm thinking some sort of chickpea based mixture. Does anyone have anything like that in their repertoire? Also, any other inspired ideas? I *really* don't want to go down the bought veggie sausage route as at least two of our number are extremely sceptical that veggie food can be good and I have a bit of a point to prove

You should do some potato bondas, ALL the meat eaters that had them at the last restaurant night said if all veggie food tasted like that they'd quite happily stop eating meat!
Chick peas are notorious for falling apart, I wouldn't put them on a barbeque! Burgers made with kidney beans and oats (ordinary porridge oats) work well. Put some sage in with the rest of the seasoning and a little flour helps to keep things all together. Eggs would work too but I do them without so our vegans can eat them too.

I find red lentil burgers hold together best, but that's only when i've done them in the oven. we don't do BBQs. i find gram flour helps them stay together better too.

Thanks folks - I'll definitely have another look at the potato recipe Kathy. I remember thinking it looked rather lovely.
