Hello all & sorry for the delay in introducing myself.

I am very glad to have found you.

I am interested in all sorts of crafts and growing and using my own fruit & veg, so this looks like the perfect place for me to come to!

I am looking forward to getting to know you all and pinching a few good ideas! Hope I may be able to share some too. Very Happy

Hi Beadgarden and welcome.

I am also new to this site and have been made to feel very welcome by everyone. I'm sure you will benefit from all the brilliant ideas around and about the site.

Hi from one who was born a Hampshire Hog, but I'm really a Devonshire Dumpling at heart, and am presently a Welsh Leek (at least, I guess that's what I'd have to be - or perhaps a Welshcake?!)
Beadgarden

Hello,

I make jewellery and own a bead business - www.beadgarden.co.uk but I also love to knit, spin, dye, make quilts & soap.

Plus I have also done kumihimo, lace making, weaving, stained glass, woodturning.

I have 5 pet hens, I love to grow fruit & veg and make jam, etc. I would one day like to keep bees, probably when the kids are older.

I cannot draw to save my life and although I love crafts I am not keen on things like scrapbooking and card making.
Kathy

Ooo a fellow weaver and what is kumihimo please?!

AND chickens Very Happy

Do you like goats by any chance??? Cool
Beadgarden

I love goats! My mum had one called Sage and she used to love to play with my dog but hated my mum's collie. Unfortunately my garden isn't quite big enough, if it was I would keep a couple of sheep too.

Kumihimo is Japanese braiding. It is done on a tall, round loom called a Marudai. You wrap lots of threads on weighted bobbins that hang around the outside of the loom and the braid is weighted in hole in the centre. You can make round, square and flat braids and you can braid beads into it.

Oh, and I am only recently a Hampshire Hog. I grew up in Harlington, which is the armpit of Heathrow airport! I lived there until I was 28 and could finally escape the polution. I have been here for 18 months (I am now 30) and love it. Its not quite the countryside, but I have trees outside my window instead of a petrol station & car wash! AND I CAN BREATH!

My family are from all over the country;

My family on my Dad's side are from Devon. Appledore, Bideford, Barnstaple and Honiton. My grandparents moved so my grandad could build floats for sea planes at Fairey Aviation during the war.

My mum's side were from Lancashire and Newcastle and worked in the cotton mills and the mines.

I know all thopse places in Devon. Appledore is stunning Very Happy
