what fabric? My project for the winter, other than being j's mum, is to learn how to use my sewing machine, so i thought i'd practise by making something simple. i hope!
i had an idea to make j a hanging tidy thing with pockets - a big piece of material with various different sized pockets sewn onto it to put his toys, current bedtime book, etc in.
Any idea what fabric to use that'll be strong enough but not hard to sew?

I'd got for something like denim or maybe corduroy. Something fairly stiff that will hold a crease, and pretty hard-wearing so that the things in the pockets don't wear them through. Some upholstery or curtain fabrics would be suitable too I think.
Also, if I was making something like this, I think I'd go for stripey or checked fabric, so I could make sure I sewed the pockets on straight (but then I'm all for an easy life )
