We didn't get one either because they all seem to have chocolate in them, no good for J, and I didn't like the others that I saw, they all looked cheap and tacky.
I have put a link to a virtual one in the Christmas section of this forum.

No picture in my boys, they have a fabric one with little pockets that I then put little things in, like crayon, cars etc, chocolates on some days, but not every day.
They have more fun then, waiting to see what the next day will bring them, and its so much healthier !!!!

No picture here as such, either.
We have 2 fabric ones, a tree that is filled with 3 sweets in each pocket, that I fill and there is a pair of bells, and I can't find the nativity one yet, where there are 24 pieces of the nativity scene to add on a daily basis.

The fabric ones sound nice. Perhaps I'll have time to make one for next year

I couldn't see where the link was?

It's on the main index page, look at the christmas section but don't click into it, in the description area there's a link. Each day there's a little more to the story.

I love the fabric ones! My neighbour has a nativity scene that you add a piece too each day! My girls had a calender last year from here http://www.phoenix-trading.co.uk/web/helenscott (she is my local trader but can deliver anywhere) and they where the first calanders we had that had decent pictures in!!!

Oh excellent Libby, I remember we bought some last year from Phoenix, but the lady who I bought from has moved away and I couldn't remember their name. I've just ordered one each for S and J.

The fabric ones sound fantastic - must do one for next year!
T used to make me advent calendars with pictures of film stars etc either making stupid comments or with fake beards and santa hats, etc. Very daft they were.
But he hasn't done one this year

I have a Maltesers calendar, which had a snowman shaped chocolate, and a "joke"...
What happens when you drop a snowball into a glass of water?
It gets wet!
When I go to my dad's next weekend, I will try to get any info on the lovely calendar my mum sewed (cross stitch). It has little shiny paper wrapped matchboxes which you could put anything small into, and each day, you remove the matchbox to reveal the picture behind. Very pretty at any stage, unlike most bought sweet ones, which tend to start looking a mess once a few doors have been ripped etc.

We have a fabric one that you add a piece of the Nativity scene each day.
They also have a chocolate one.

This is the first year I haven't given no. 1 daughter and no. 1 son a calendar each. Decided that as they are now both adults, I would stop doing it.
Feeling really mean today
