Who's knitting?

Is anyone knitting at the moment or has the good weather driven us all outdoors.

I'm still knitting a babydolls sleeping bag. I do a few rows every morning when I get up, and a few in the afternoon but it seems to be taking forever. Rolling Eyes

I have a 3/4 finished hat but ran out of yarn (Mr Kathy spun it). As I've packed all the spinning stuff that will have to go on hold now till we've moved.
I also hope to set up the knitting machine, it will stay up in the "craft room", I can't be bothered with all the setting up and putting away again. Laughing
TheGirlsMum

Just finished a hat for me.
Sold all the dishcloths for pre-school funds
Finished the back and left front of a baby first size jacket dont seem to sit down at the moment tho, need OH and girls to go back to work and school.
Lizzie

I'm always knitting something Very Happy The current list is:

A jumper for OH, but I don't like the yarn very much to work with, so it's taking ages
A pair of socks (somehow there's always a pair of socks on the go)
I've got a baby jacket to sew up
There's a cardigan to finish sewing up and the button band to knit, which has been languishing in the bottom of the basket for more than a year in that state Embarassed

Trouble is, I can't knit for too long nowadays as it makes my shoulder sore, so everything just takes forever.

And I'm not even thinking about the cross stitch that's on the go...!
agapanthus

I'm knitting a waistcoat. Got some wool from either lidl or aldi £2.99 for 3 balls...really pretty. I got 12 balls in all....but don't have a pattern. It's probably gonna be a sew and sew job again. Laughing
Kathy

Jellycat, I'm challenging you to finish that cardi and post a pic here!

Do you use a different pattern for each of your dishcloths TGM?

I'm finding the sleeping bag a bit tedious, think I might start something else so I can alternate them! Do we need a knitting support group.....................
Laughing
TheGirlsMum

Support group sounds good.

I try different patterns for the dish cloths Kathy but find some better than others.Pumpkins and wateringcan the favouites.
Obsidian

I have 2 baby cardigans on the go, 1 doll's top and 'supposedly' a ball gown for a barbie, but I haven't the heart to tell DD I haven't started it. I did start a beautiful baby 'coat' in 3ply, but gave up after re-starting it for the 8th time! I found the pattern too complicated and don't like knitting in anything less than dk.

Argh - that sounds like a gauntlet being thrown down... Very Happy

I'm not sure I even like the wretched thing any more....!

I think a support group would be good...' Very Happy
Kathy

Even if you don't like it Jellycat it will annoy you forever if you don't finish it! You can donate it as a raffle prize or something, so, by the end of the weekend we'll have half a button band please. I'm not a slave driver really.......

I'm challenging myself to do 15 rows of the sleeping suit by Sunday night.

How's your waistcoat coming along Agapanthus?
Becki

This sounds like the housekeeping bit Rolling Eyes Laughing
alison

have you done your lampshades today missy!
Kathy

Kathy

Laughing Laughing
Svea

i am on baby clothes at the moment. they are so cute and adorable and i have been known to finish one cardigan in a 24h period. and yes, i do sleep too Laughing
TheGirlsMum

Well Ive finished the left front of the jacket now.
I do find sitting down to knit quite difficult especially with the daggers I get from OH

Svea, you make me feel very inadequate!
Kathy

Well done TGM, why do you get daggers by the way?
TheGirlsMum

I really don't know Kathy, but it just seems to wind him up.
Kathy

Strange, it might be because he thinks you are doing nothing when you knit, or maybe the clacking annoys him! Knit him a pair of ear muffs!
Becki

I'd like some earmuffs if it means I can't hear anything Rolling Eyes

each to their own, in terms of knitting speed - i do get a little obsessed now and then and knit at superhuman speed. plus size 0-3 mths are so small....

what cardi are you making atm?
Kathy

I did my rows and am near the end of the back now, Jellycat, what about you? Laughing
Lizzie

Well, thanks to having to spend an hour in the car today, the button band is finished! I wasn't driving, I hasten to add Very Happy

So now I just need to sew it on and put the sleeves in, which I'll probably do ... um ... sometime in the next year or so Laughing
Svea

TheGirlsMum

agapanthus

Finished the back and one side....just the one side to finish and then the putting together....that's gonna be the hard part Smile
Kathy

I saw your on your blogspot Svea, very clever. Smile

Have you sewn the button band on yet Jellycat?

I've about 1" to go then I can start the hood of the dolly sleepsuit.

Lizzie

It's finished Very Happy I'll try and remember to take a photo tonight.

And I was right - I don't like it much!
Lizzie

Here it is - I s'pose it might grow on me...

Kathy

Well done, now you've room in your knitting bag for something else!

I do like the diamond pattern on it, what don't you like about it?
TheGirlsMum

Well done Jelly

It makes me feel rather frumpy, but that's probably because I'm a rather frumpy shape at the moment.

P'raps I'll try it on again when I'm thinner!

It's lovely wool though - merino blend and very soft...
janowl

Hi everyone. I do lot's of knitting. I have a cardigan on the go at the moment. It's been on the go for a while actually. I do lot's of things besides, so when i want a quiet moment i have a little knit. I'm new to your forum, and so far what i've seen looks good.
Kathy

Yeah i love it. Infact i've been looking for a navy blue cardigan with a zip and can't get the colour anywhere, so i have decided i will have to kniot one. When i find out where i can get some wool that is. LOL I've only lived here for 3 months and don't know my way around properly yet. Knitting wool shops seem very far and few between these days.
Lizzie

There's an awful lot of wool shops online though.... Wink

Actually, can I just out in a plug for Dragon Yarns

http://www.dragonyarns.co.uk/

I ordered some wool from them on Friday last week and it arrived the next day - it's exactly what I wanted and excellent service too Very Happy
Libby

Oooooooooo online wool shops my favourite, I shall take a peek!!!
Libby

I have 'Virtually' spent a fortune!!!!! Now I have to be real and whittle it down!!!!! Laughing
Lizzie

I know!! I had to be VERY strong indeed and just buy what I went in there for.

I nearly came out with a multipack of sock wool..... Laughing

I'm knitting a Noni night garden felted bag as a Christmas pressie. Here is one of the flowers:

Libby

Love the colour! Wow!
carolinej

I've just finished a bag and scarf for my son's girlfriend for christmas. I have just started a pair of socks. This is the first time I have used double ended needles, and I am still a bit clumsy with them. Does anyone have any tips to make it easier?

Then I have to knit my son another 3 pointed jester hat, as he lost the one I made for him a few weeks ago. It looked really impressive, but was simple when I got the hang of what I was supposed to be doing (had to undo some of it 3 times Embarassed )

cj Very Happy
Kathy

I do quite a few mitts on DPNs but still find them fiddly to use. Once you have a bit of knitting them it gets easier but the needle frequently falls through the stitches and ends up on the floor!
I should really go looking, I bet there's tips out there somewhere about using them. Smile

That jester hat sounds good, have you got a pattern for it, I've got a baby pressie to knit for Christmas.
Lizzie

Caroline, I posted elsewhere saying to come in here if you need any advice with the socks, and here you are already Laughing

I found using DPNs is like anything else really - tricky to start with but easier and easier with practice. As Kathy says, once the sock/mitten/whatever has some length to it, it's easier to keep ahold of them.

And I'd second the request for a pattern for the jester's hat - sounds intriguing!
carolinej

I have done a bit more sock knitting this afternoon, and you are right, it gets a bit easier.

Here's the link for the jester hat. I didnt get any pics of the one I made, but it was red. I was going to add jester bells to the points, but my son thought it would eventually drive him up the wall, jingling all the time!

http://woollywormhead.blogspot.co...ern-for-wormheads-jester-hat.html

One tip, use the longest needles you have, as it becomes a bit of a squeeze by the end.

Kathy

Thanks for that link Caroline, I've bookmarked it. Smile

I finally finished the fingerless mitts, I'm not totally happy with them so they'll be fulled, that'll make them a bit thicker and help to hide the flaws. I'll post a photo when they're done.
Lizzie

Ooh yes, thanks for the link carolinej - what a splendid hat.

It'll be what all the trendiest grandbabies are wearing this spring I think
Laughing
carolinej

Glad you like it.
