WindowsMy windows are filthy on the outside I usually do them with a hosepipe and soft brush but the hosepipe is currently stretched across the horses field to provide water to the cows so I don't fancy dragging it back and using it

We have a proper window cleaner tool, that is like a fluffy end on a stick, and a squeegy.
I don't do the outside windows though, as I am only 5'4", so can't reach very well.

I've got a window cleaner to do the outside, but whenever he's been the insides look really bad ... it's one of those jobs that actually takes less than 15 minutes to do, but I'll put off for months

.............and the conservatory - I wish the sun would stop trying to shine through them

Silly thing about cleaning windows: it's bright sunny days that you notice all the dirt on, and feel you have to do something about it, but you're supposed to clean them on dullish days, so as not to get water marks!

I still clean mine the old-fashioned way, wiping them down with newspaper to finish and get smears off. Wish I could get OH up a ladder to do the upstairs ones on the outside though, but the house is 3 1/2 stories high and I don't think the Insurance would cover him! NO window cleaners would come and do this house - any more than they are prepared to do the Hall across the river, as they have 50 windows!

Ours is a crog loft farmhouse so all the windows are on the ground floor except for sky lights in the 2 crogloft bedrooms

One of the considerations on the last time we put in double glazing, was how far the windows opened, and could you reach all the outside, from the inside.
Unfortunately the person who chose the windows in this house didn't think that far ahead!

We have a window cleaner to do the outside windows but he can't reach the upstairs ones above the conservatory so I do them from the inside. I used to wash the windows with soapy water and then use a soft cloth to polish them clean (inside and out) but it took forever, was tiring and never ever could I get them streak free. But this week I bought myself a squeegy thing like Alison mentioned, spong on one side and squeegie on the other. Wow, it works fantastically. I put a tiny bit of ecover into warm water and a tablespoon of vinegar and they've cleaned up beautifully and so far no streaks to be seen anywhere. Our cupboard doors in the bedrooms are mirror and I used the squeegie on them too, it was so quick to clean, no more excuses for me now.

I'm not sure what make it is Kathy but I bought mine off ebay and it arrived the day after I bought it so was very quick to be delivered. S and J have been cleaning the outside conservatory windows today, so easy to use even they have been cleaning successfully
