Wool advice

Although I've not quite finished my current project (a scarf), I want to start my next project - another scarf !! (I'm not very experienced Embarassed )

This is it: http://knitandplenty.typepad.com/pho...karabella.html

I love it, but it seems that the recommended wool (Karabella Cashmere, Superwash) is very expensive and I need to buy 5 balls (for a scarf ?) Their recommended alternative is Cashmere Bulky. To get the look should I stick to their recommendations - has anyone used the either of these wools ? Also, I'd like to make this for a child - would I need to reduce the number of stitches ?

sorry for all the questions Rolling Eyes wait until I need to come back and ask how on earth I knit into the front and back of every stitch Shocked Shocked Embarassed

That there link's not working MC but I've googled the name of the wool and my word! Expensive doesn't really cover it does it?! A dollar a gram????? That's just ridiculous.

Generally speaking, you can use any wool so long as it's the same weight (i.e. double knitting/chunky etc.) as called for in the pattern. It looks as it this might be double knitting-type weight, so anything in that weight should do.

Without being able to see the pattern it's difficult to know whether you'd need to reduce the size for a child but if it's not too huge a scarf, I'd just knit it according to the pattern I think...

a dollar a gram Shocked Shocked

I've managed to find a wool shop in Sheffield (the Wool Baa), but doubt she will sell it if it is so expensive, but hopefully she'll help me with alternatives.

Tha looks nice, simple pattern too. You will be able to substitute any chunky wool. Smile
