Leonie are there any varieties that are sold in the supermarkets any good for our climate? The price seed companies charge are a little bit over the top in my opinion.

i just get em from the shop n grow em in the corner of the grenhouse in compost n a bin liner

Lynne at another forum mentioned a variety called Kumara which is a New Zealand one. Not sure but that may be okay for our climate as NZ isn't that much different to the UK. If you're going to buy a shop bought variety that's the one I'd look out for.

yikes, think I'm a bit late - only just started my SPs off a week ago. Will keep my fingers crossed. Bought slips from T&M last year which were quite expensive.

phew ... had a think and put another 4 into water.

We used all of the remaining sweet potatoes from last year tonight for tea - mashed sweet potatoes, honey roasted parsnips and some shop bought squash bakes. Y u m m y ! ! !

sooooo exited - my first slip has appeared !!! its about half an inch big. Two of the other potatoes are developing buds that look as if they are about to burst into life !!!!

Still waiting for one to grow some roots - could it be upside down ?
