After yesterday's post about the Tooth Fairy when we started talking about penny sweeties, it made me stop and think about the pocket money I received as a child and what I spent it on.
Compared to the pocket money todays' children receive and how they spend it.
I used to buy sweets from the local newsagents shop, and if I had managed to save a bit, I would buy a box of sugarlumps to take to the horses.
Anyone else? |

I remember my first pocket money was a single big and shiny Ha'penny. Every two weeks I could afford to go to the sweet shop. _________________ www.smokedfoodsdirect.co.uk |

Anything worked hard for is so much appreciated.
The old saying "easy come easy go" is so very true IMHO. |

My brother, sister and I used to get a shiny threepenny bit (showing my age here) on the walk home from school - I can't remember whether it was once a week or every day. We had to decide whether to spend it on comics or sweets. I can't ever remember having to do chores - my kids do - even now when I go to work in the morning there is a list left on the kitchen table for who has to do what. I just used to put a list of jobs but they never got done because they all blamed someone else - now the list has names _________________ www.overthegate.co.uk
