| Just been to fetch hay with my dad so had him cornered in the car for 20 misn to talk about horses. He did seem interested for like 1 second, asked if it was a filly or gelding but after that he lost interest! Say's I have to sell what I have first! Which isn't going to happen! |

Frankie, if your mum and dad let you have every horse you've seen that you want you'd have a farm full of them by now |

I went riding yesterday for the first time since we moved. It is amazing how weak my left knee has got in 2 months of not riding. The riding must be keeping it semi-strong. Another good reason to get a horse
I rode a cob called Megan. She was very nice and quite fast for a big horse. The countryside around there is spectacular and if we got permission to ride on their land, I need never see a road again. She was a typical riding school horse, desperate not to be left behind. One of the helpers led me and another girl away from the rest of the ride for a good old gallop.
The ride was quite large and Hannah the owner was leading some littlies. One lady who was riding next to me had never ridden before and as we started to trot she had her reins up by her ears. I didn't want to interfere but I did suggest it might help her stopping ability if she shortened them up a bit. Then as we trotted off she started to panic as her foot came out of the stirrup. I asked everyone to stop but no-one heard me so I ended up riding on Megans side as I made a grab for her reins in my spare hand. All in a days work _________________ The Card Bee

Hmm - I used to be a riding instructor, and taught for years at Pony Club. I'm afraid the various stables I worked at would never allow utter novices out on a ride like that. I hope the stables have a good insurance policy - what a shame it spoiled your ride as well. Will you be going back there? _________________ http://codlinsandcream.blogspot.com/ |

Sounds like you had an exciting time then Becki, I'm looking forward to when you get your own horse.
A lot of riding schools are like that these days BB, Coco worked at a few and they did send novices out with experienced riders even the BHS approved schools. |

It didn't spoil my ride, they only trotted once as far as I could see and they walked round the rest of the time. I went for at least 3 canters, and actually had a nicer ride out than I did at my previous stables. I am going back there next week for a lesson and a small ride out. It was half term this week, and they have been extremely busy _________________ The Card Bee
