I have been having halfhour lessons, because of the cost lately. They have been good, some of the horses are not used to being in the school, because they are mainly used for hacking. I have been riding one who can't canter very well in the school, it's a bit like a wall of death experience, but I am looking forward to the challenge. I have also ridden a youngster who is being schooled and she is lovely. It's nice to think I'm up to the job.

Last week I found myself quite off balance, and this resulted in the horse slowing up somewhat, because she does like to look after people. I was throwing myself forward quite alot. I think this is to do with the fact I have to ride quite long due to the problems with my knee, if I put the stirrups up I would find it quite painful.
I used to do alot of work without stirrups so I think it might be a good idea. Also I have read about special stirrups that take some of the jarring away from thw ankle, knee and hip joints. Although they are expensive I think it would be worth it in this case.

Oooo, pretty quiet on the horsey front lately I see! How's everyone getting on in the dark winter months? how's the new pony becki? he's a beauty.

My lot are fine, going to take pics tomorrow, they are fluffy and muddy and rotund.....Danny has a rug on so he's a bit sleeker from the neck down. I've not had a lot of time to do stuff with them recently, it's either too dark or pouring down. Danny is getting better though, he trusts me a lot more now and will do things of his own volition, he follows me around off the lead rope and was trotting after me the other week, he would never do that before, as soon as I took off the rope he just walked away and wasn't interested. He still goes back to square one with strangers though, so I think whoever takes him on will have to do a lot of work, just like I'm doing, to gain his trust. I don't know that I'll ever get to the bottom of him, and I think he will always be wary but I can live with that, he just needs understanding and patience.... I want to keep him, it would be better for him I reckon.... I'm hatching a plan as I type
