so did I, although I thought you had to get the main subject mostly inside the box it makes, not on one of the corners.

ooooh, now that's interesting because I haven't found the grid on my camera! it would make things a lot easier if I had one, better go get the user manual out again.

Pilsbury, the grid is just something I drew up on photoshop. If you have photoshop then add a clear layer to your picture and using the line tool draw a grid on the layer.

I just press the 'display' button on mine to show the grid - I've got two fuji cameras and a nikon. Got the gear, I'd like to think I've got an eye for a photo but the skills to make that picture great are right down on the beginners level.

Looking forward to learning more - thanks again Leoni.

You're welcome Shirley Very Happy My skills are down near the beginners level too but I'm learning loads every day and like to think that through these workshops I can pass on what I've learnt. I'm still practicing at perfecting what I've learnt and hoping that one day rather than having to think carefully about each picture all the technical stuff will come as second nature. The reason I'm doing a workshop each week rather than dumping all the info here at once is that I found learning a little at a time was much easier and more likely to sink in rather than being bombarded with info overload all at once. I keep referring back to the basics to remind myself and refresh my memory, each time I refer back it all becomes that little bit clearer.
