Not sure if this is the place to post and may already exist somewhere anyway.
With all the mutterings about Christmas lately, it seems that some Potties are already thinking about it
I think we are all quite like-minded here and like to give small original gifts and if handmade or locally sourced, then so much the better.
Is there a place here for those talented folk amongst us to consider producing items for other Potties, either as a swap or for a small charge? The fee could cover basic costs and/or time.
Just thinking aloud really, not yet formed a clear idea |

Last year I gave my dad a hamper of home produced foods such as pickles and chutneys , pesto, dried chillies etc, plus some cheeses and biscuits. This year I hope to do hampers of smoked produce such as varied meats, veg, nuts, fish, garlic, cheeses, all smoked with different flavoured smokes. In the long run I plan to sell these for loads of money but if anyone wanted some items I could do it at cost whilst I am learning the techniques. Obviously the item wouldn't be one of the failures, (we'd eat them) but one of the successes.
Just need to get hold of a vaccuum sealer. |

My vacuum sealer was the best investment I made in the 'food' department. I bought a cheapo one and ended up sending it back and got a refund - it was rubbish for the amount of work it needed to do.
I invested in a decent one - and it has been worth every single penny. I use it on an almost daily basis - for all my harvest food for the freezer. I also use it for my sausages, pork burgers, fish in fact everything I make that goes on the freezer.
I also use it for sealing and resealing bags - normal food bags (mine has a setting so that you can do it manually and change it for thin bags) So great for re-sealing open packaging - like cheeses, doing bags of salad leaves, all sorts - if it is plastic I can seal it. Great for packaging things for posting - keeps them in better condition - and bulky items get flattened so take up less space.
Great also for packaging pressies too - keeps them fresh if they are perfumed. The list is endless.
What things are you smoking? When you decide could you pm me please? _________________ Lottie the Allotment Lady |

| It sounds like a good idea CP, perhaps a new thread where we could post items for swap/sale? |
