You could do the hat on straight pins, works out the same, just means you have the seam to sew at the end. Instead of reading "round," just read "row," does that make sense? Smile

I have to say, since discovering the joys of circular needles I'd like to do ALL my knitting on the round, I just haven't gotten the hang of converting the larger items. My Mother has recently had real problems knitting as her shoulders get sore. She's going to try knitting with circulars (you can do straight knitting on circulars) as you can hold your hands low down, very little shoulder movement required.

OOo! brilliant, on another forum they are knitting two socks at one time on two circular needles, I just couldn't get it but now I have a vid to watch I should crack it (I hope)

Thanks Kathy, if I ever finish my socks(2 needle variety, I am a very slow knitter!)I will the hat a go.The videos seem easy to follow.
