Too much manure makes brussell sprouts bolt, I only got leafy greens off mine this winter!

Leave carrots in the ground till you need them, cover with straw, same for parsnips.

When planting cucumber plants in their final growing positions get a plastic cup/noodle/yoghurt tub (the bigger the better) cut a slit from the top to the bottom & a hole in the bottom, slide it around the plant & make sure when you water no water goes inside as they dont like too much water around the stem...
Worked for me last year Very Happy

When you get the last cabbages in the autumn or winter, do not pull them up, but cut them off & slash the stems,,,,,result spring greens.
