I must admit I thought they would make excellent placemats too. if you can knit and purl, put yarn round needle (YO) and pass the slip stitch over (PSSO) literally pass the stitch that was slipped from left needle to right needle, over the stitch you've just knitted, you can do this pattern
what I could do is post a couple of rows of the pattern, you do it, if you get stuck we can sort you out, if you don't just let me know that you've done the rows and I will post the next set.
