Well, soap making day #1 has come and gone. I am not sure if I can actually call what I did soap making as it involved some melting in the microwave, mixing fragraneces and pouring into molds. Regardless, the deed is done resulting in about 16 nice bars of soaps - Goat's Milk and Shea Butter. The round ones are peppermint for washing up Charlie and Max the Labradores - not that they even go tromping about in the marsh! The domed bars are Orange, Lemon, Lavendar-Vanilla.
I just love the dog footprint mould. I should think that it would make a lovely present for pet owners.
The other bars look very professional too.
With the 'melt and pour' tha tyou ordered. Do you have to let it cure, or is it 'instant' soap that you can use after a few days? _________________ Lottie the Allotment Lady
Yes the melt and pour are ready to use after just a few hours to cool - no curing time needed. As I really wanted to jump in, I thought best not to need too much skill for a beginner. Maybe next time I'll go the proper route and make the soap from scratch rather than taking to short cuts of melt and pour.
I don't think it matters. New knitters don't learn by catching and shearing a sheep first, and if we all had to grow our food before we ate anything we'd not survive at all!
You have started where you are comfortable, and it's given you the confidence to try another route now, so it's worked!
