Knitting Day - A Saturday in November
A couple years ago, I organised a knitting day in my village, it started because a bunch of us knitters on another forum that I am a member of, wanted to all get together ...
I would like to start by saying it is nothing like the Ravelry Day (brilliant as it was, even though I was stood outside on a store in the rain), but more your local 'stitch and bitch' but with not so much of the emphasis on the local as all the friends travelled quite a lot of miles
So, this time I am opening this meeting up to all my other forum friends because I am greedy and want to meet you all
What happens:
You come along for the day 10 to 4pm ish (not booked the hall yet), bring your knitting, crochet or even spinning, a small amount of cake and or a few (not packets) biscuits to share at break times.
Cost £5.00 : to cover hall costs.
I will cook lunch at a cost of £5.00. I cook and prepare the food in my own kitchen and the church hall kitchen, just like I would for my own family. Now I would not knowingly give my family food poisoning etc but please be aware that, this is low key and I am just doing for you what I would naturally do for all my friends and not expect to be taken to the cleaners if you did get poorly. The reason for me cooking is quite simple; most of us will have a long day, November can be cold and chilly, so last time, a warm lunch was voted in, to many of us to go to a local pub and we also felt it wasted a lot of knitting time. So that is why I will cook lunch following the successful format of the last meeting.
Menu:
Lasagne - meat and if required a veggie option
Baked Potato - with a separate topping option if you can’t eat the above
Side Salad
Garlic Bread
Now I cook the same for everybody, so there isn't really a choice here but there is if you really do have diet problem, which I am more than happy to cater for, but the church hall and my oven are only small.
Your cake for pudding
Tea and Coffee will be supplied, every one takes turns in making and clearing up, just like at home
I will try and get some yarn and goodies on a Sale or Return basis or if you dye and sell yarn and want to come along please let me know (please pm me) but again this is low key and I only open shop for a maximum of an hour, no need for more as the knitting / chatting and drinking tea are the main activities for the day
